Shackleton's Valiant Voyage Mass Market Paperback – January 1, 1962

I read this book when I was about 11 years old and loved it. I purchased this copy ( same as the one I got all those years ago)for my grandson to read. This is the incredibly true survival story of Shackleton and his crew from Endurance, locked in the ice in Antarctica. This is the kind of story that should tear your young sons and grandsons away from the devices for awhile. What a story of courage in the face of nearly insurmountable odds!

This is the first good book I read as a child. I bought it for my son and recommend it for all children with an explorer’s spirit.

I did not like the fact that the German edition was sent to my grandson. No mention in the description that this was the German edition. No satisfaction when trying to get a refund or the English edition.

out-of-print of Shackleton's totally amazing journey to Antarctica...and less detailed than most so youngsters (and reluctant readers) get the fascinating information without struggles.

I wasn't much of a reader in high school. I don't know where I found this book, and had no idea who Shackleton was- but I started reading it and couldn't put it down. It's a great adventure story about men overcoming unbelievable circumstances. Dads- it'll inspire your sons to a more adventuresome spirit- maybe get them away from the video games some.
