Keeping a handgun ready for home use in an emergency is hard to balance with safety concerns, particularly if children are present. The Safety Bullet comes as close to balancing these concerns as anything else on the market.If you need to use the handgun, simply rack it twice to eject both safety bullets; this is a simple task that the weapon is designed to do and takes about a second. However, anyone who pulls the trigger or racks only a single round -- e.g., an inquisitive child or a casual thief -- will immediately find himself with a completely inoperable weapon.The device is somewhat more cumbersome for revolvers and is probably not worth the trouble on any carry weapon. But if you're looking for an inexpensive way to prevent common tragedies in the home, this is a great product.

The bullet shells obviously fit fine, but the plastic 'bullet' part of these is just fractionally too big. (I know they are supposed to expand and jam when you fire them, this is UNfired, I.e. chamber the shell, try to eject it and load the next round - no bueno!)Trying them initially I needed to grab something to pry the safety shells (NOT fired) back out of the barrel - they certainly won't come out by themselves.After a bit of careful filing I've got both so they load and eject cleanly now.Disappointed in their QC and would not buy again.

This item is exactly what I have been looking for. I feel this is great for child safety which was main reason purchased. Its a quicker way to use gun with safety bullets rather than messing with trigger lock, combination or key for lock box. If intruder gets in your house your heart starts beat hard and fast. Trying find a key or messing with combonation takes more time especially under pressure to get your gun fast as you can and seconds count!Lets say in the moment cant get yourself to fire the gun. Then the intruder takes it from you. They cant shoot you unless the safety bullets have been ejected. If your child pulls the trigger the safety bullet disables the gun! Hope this helps others looking for a safer way keep gun in your home or carry with young kids.

This thing only keeps a firearm safe from someone without upper body strength. Dangerous to depend on this to secure a firearm from a child or anyone with basic gun knowledge.

I like the idea or option of having it as intended. I have not had a firearm discharge with one. All the pros and cons that anyone involved in firearms could say about how or why you should use this is beyond the scope of this rating and i will not respond to those questions. The product functioned in my firearm as a cartridge should.

It is legally a round of live ammunition, which makes it violate Amazon rules and may violate state laws depending on where you live.2. It is reasonably fast to install -- locking up your firearm, but it is not nearly as fast to remove as the fake animation video that the seller has on YouTube. Depending on your particular gun, you may have to beat the device out of your barrel with the stick provided. With a semi-auto pistol, it is actually quicker to just defeat the device by forcing the slide back.3. This device teaches bad and unsafe firearms handling because it requires you to pull the trigger to fire the device when you install it.4. And, yes, when I said "fire the device" I wasn't talking about just pulling the trigger -- you actually do fire this device because it uses a live explosive primer to launch its plastic bullet into the barrel to jam the gun. Each so-called "Safety Bullet" can only be used once. I guess that's why the package gives you two "Safety Bullets" so you can practice with one to see if you are going to be stupid enough to use the second one.

This has given me some peace of mind. I think it's a great product. I just place on on top of the clip. And yes, I can rack my PPQ twice quickly if I need to. But now, when the grand kids are over, I still put my weapon away, but I feel more comfortable knowing that if somehow they were to happen upon it, there is an additional layer of safety.

This is seriously a stupid product. They can only be used once. A cable/chamber lock would be much more effective than this product. If you are leaving your gun out where children can get it, you shouldn't own guns in the first place. Second, if you forget this item is in your gun and you need it for defense and accidentally pull the trigger, it bricks your gun and it is no longer able to be used for self defense. This product would cost more lives than it saves.
