Perfect for a gift!
The small picture album was exactly what I needed to display some family wedding photos and gift it to a family member! The album was of a superior quality and exactly what I had hoped for. I was proud to insert the pictures and share it as a gift!

If the room is dim, turn on the light
For the disciple of Jesus, you'll find this compelling and drawing you to become more God-fearing, desiring of piety, and living a life of love. For the non-disciple, let it pique your interest into the vast complexity of the universe that is mostly unseen. You live your life so briefly, yet you know intuitively that it is of importance. Why? Where does that come from? Isn't it worth it to just ask God - not for a little more light (there's plenty, as this book demonstrates) - but spiritual retinal sensitivity? Then it might become clear why the other Newton wrote: "was blind but now I see ..."

More Than Meets the Eye but Not Enough to Satisfy the Soul
In More Than Meets the Eye, Swenson, a physician, physicist and tradtional evangelical, makes a sustained appeal for natural theology, where "The almighty has sufficiently demonstrated His greatness in both the Scriptures and science." [186] Science itself is a "fascinating source of revelation, and increasingly so." [15] Thus the bulk of the book is devoted to Swenson's fascinations, first physiology and then physics, moving outward from the heart to the stars. He melds awe of the body and awe of the cosmos with awe of the divine to create a sometimes sermon / sometimes science lecture in the form of a folksy doctor's homily. Very much in the style of 19th century natural theology, Swenson asserts that nature declares God: "... if we observe design, it is not wrong to infer a Designer. If we observe life, it is not wrong to infer a Life-giver." [73] "... a beginning implies a Beginner, an order implies an Orderer." [127] Swenson appears to be reaching out primarily to religious evangelicals wary of science. "People of faith often tend to fear science or even dread it. My feeling, however, is quite different. Science is thrilling. True science is a friend of Truth." [184] This "true science" apparently favors sources sympathetic to Creationist / Intelligent Design (Behe, Denton). As a result, Swenson stereotypes and trivializes evolutionary theory as improbable "random choice" that can't explain the "irreducible complexity" of life. Swenson occasionally reads like a Guinesss Book of God's records - almost a tedium of lists of facts and numbers. But his main theme is the self-evidence of God's sovereignty, argued with awe and humor. "It turns out that the universe is far more interesting than first suspected - scientifically as well as spiritually." [139] Scientific progress is actually, per Swenson, a part of progressive revelation. [181-2] "While we do not have the physical proximity to Jesus, we have one advantage earlier people lacked: the new discoveries of science." [184] Since I find Swenson's Margin and The Overload Syndrome compelling and helpful, I hoped for the same here. On the whole More Than Meets the Eye is earnest but uneven and occasionally fluffy. Why do the biblical allusions feel so forced? Why does Swenson find it necessary to further the confusion that atoms, electrons, and photons somehow choose between wave and particle states? [103,106,107] Why deliberately confuse the material and spiritual - for example, offering an explanation of "God's ESP" [43] or asking how removing "fallenness" will alter the brain [46] or how many dimensions will be in heaven? [139]I admire Swenson's work, but the extraordinarly beautiful cover of this book proclaims the D/designer more than its contents.

more than meets the eyes brilliant
First I saw the DVDs which inspired me to purchase the book. I found the book to be more detailed in each chapter, so I was hungry to explore more of the beauty and elegance of our Creator's handiwork,( to put it mildly). Richard has a beautiful way of explaining a subject which is so complex, in the simplified version so that a lay-person can grasp the magnitude of the subject & apply it to their every day lives. Richard also has a sense of humor which I found enjoyable on such a serious subject as the creator of the of the universe, our personal God & Savior, Jesus Christ.I ordered all of his other books and plan to delve into this beautiful study. It has enhanced immeasurably my understanding of God & his creation, absolutely stunning, Bravo!!! It's a pleasure to take the time to encourage this amazing author who's using his God-given talent to serve the kingdom of God. Thank you
