Does what I needed it to do and is built quite strong (all steel construction). I use it to hold propane tanks in place.It takes a little bit of adjusting to get it right but when it is in place it's tough and doesn't slip at all. My truck has the spray on bed liner so I can't say about painted surfaces.Would recommend and buy again if I need a second one.

We have a 3/4 ton pickup for which we haul horses. Wife just took 3 to Florida from Texas for three weeks. It is good to have a cargo bar that meets up with the demands of a super duty pickup! Not the easiest to use, but that is because the mechanisms are not flimsy. However, didn't take much to get it set up in place and once in place it didn't go anywhere. It survived the Florida trip. We'll see what time will do on it with this working truck as we load big bales of alfalfa, but I think it has a great chance of giving me several good years of service, maybe more.

I wish this had a true ratchet function. As is you have to “guess” how long to make the bar before closing the latch and setting the tension that holds the bar in place. The latch has to be closed completely to lock, and closing the latch also adjusts the width of the bar at the same time as it closes.

Overall very sturdy. Locking mechanism not a true ratchet setup and more like lever with long throw. When locked in place more force than the one it's replacing with the small handle true ratchet setup.

This cargo bar is not a piece of junk. It is just like the kind they use on semi truck trailers, just a smaller version. I have owned 2 of these for over 10 years now, no problem what so ever. This bar is so heavy duty Ican not even begin to understand how you can bend it. If you did bend it, you did some serious damage to you vehicle.Very easy to use. I am going to buy another one for my son's truck. Like I said, I have 2 of these. One for my truck, one for my wife's truck, soon to have another for my son's truck. I have had the ones that ratchet and the ones that the ends thread out to secure. Both are junk. These are the best, the price is cheap here compared to truck stores, Yes for the same name.

I bought this to replace one I had for years. I left the old one out in the rain to many time, so I thought it was time to get a new one. I bought this because it looked like it would keep things from sliding in the bed of the truck and so far everything has stayed secure. I would recommend this product.

Bought this as a replacement for the same product that I had purchased in 2005. The old one finally wore out after 16 years of service and no longer latches. This keeps grocery bags, Costco purchases, boxes I'm hauling to my daughter's house, etc safely in place in the back of my pickup truck. Looked at other designs, but this one is heavy duty, reliable and easy to adjust. I use it on every trip to the store to keep purchases from sliding around in the back of the truck.
