Linda Lovelace - Porn Star Great
Linda Lovelace was a legend in her own time - but not everyone appreciated her contributions to our culture (mainly, she popularized oral sex!). Many, however, did and their names, consequently, ended up in this biography. When Linda became famous, many people wanted to meet her - mainly, of course, for sex. Linda, likewise, enjoyed meeting and having sex with other famous people - athletes, entertainers, movie stars, politicians, etc. These affairs numbered in the hundreds - actually probably more. Mainly, LL was simply trying to get ahead (no pun intended) in this world, trying to achieve some degree of financial security - which always eluded her. She always dreamed of transitioning into non-porn films, but that never happened. While she enjoyed an exciting life for a few years, her star eventually faded, along with her fame. She ended up as a simple housewife raising two children. This book reads like those smutty magazines you can buy in your local supermarket. Those magazines are popular because people love to read about their favorite stars and their love affairs. I think that many people will read this book for the same reason. The writer, Darwin Porter, is quite witty and enjoyable to read and most of the protagonists are now dead and thus unable to refute - legally or otherwise - any of the charges made against them in this book. So, the reader can anticipate the very worst - true or not! Enjoy! R. Amos, Severn, MD

Profiles in deception are Porter's specialty
Darwin Porter is Hollywoood's King of Sleaze. Here, he delves into one of his sleaziest stories. He doesn't bother with documentation, but just makes up whatever seems to be possible and presents it as reality. Lovelace was a tragic case. She was propelled to porn fame and then withdrew, later claiming she was forced, then changing her mind, then changing it back again. She made a couple of soft porn films after Deep Throat, but it was clear she didn't have much acting ability, or dancing or singing either. All she had was porn, and she turned her back on that. Perhaps she capitalized on it for awhile, perhaps her controlling husband forced her, but you'll never find out the truth here. All you'll find are Porter's mostly made up stories to satisfy the longing for sleaze.

TALK ABOUT BAD LUCK!
I read Linda Lovelace's Ordeal which was so disgusting that it left me feeling very little sympathy for this woman: that is, until I read THIS book. Thisbook tells her story from a whole different perspective; and I had no idea that her life was this bad. Porter doesn't sugarcoat, but tells her story where you actually feel for this woman despite her mistakes and shortcomings. I just received my copy today after weeks of anticipation because I really wanted to read this book as I knew it was going to be good. Even the prologue and dedication was well done.It was a bit sad the way her kids and husband treated her after she came back from that ordeal with the athletes, which I can't begin to describe in terms of indignity and embarrassment, for some serial killers have received more respect and pardon than this woman has! It seems almost as if her life was cursed at birth; that she was born under a bad sign or something. I was hesitant to buy this book because of all the negative reviews, but I'm glad I took my chances--for this one paid off! A great read.

This Book Is Trash And Full Of Untruths
This book is trash. I know for certain that certain conversations quoted in this book never occurred and the information is completely false. I can tell you exactly which parts. It's ridiculous some of the made up information in this book. It is awful the way you are trashing certain celebrities legacies. Absolutely disgusting. I looked through the author's other books and wasn't at all surprised to find the ridiculous Hollywood's Silent Closet among his works. This book is awful and full of lies.
