A fun little banjolele.
I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend. It sounds great, plays well and it's a hoot to play. I'd might consider getting another on for myself!Build quality is quite good, as you would expect from Deering, but it's a simple finish as are the GoodTimes line.

Really cool if your looking for something different.
I’ve been playing guitar for over 35 years and recently started playing banjos for something different, which led me to buying this ukulele as an additional banjo style instrument. This Banjo ukulele exceeds expectation. It is high quality, plays nice, and sounds very nice. It is much louder than a traditional ukulele with unique tone; great for playing acoustic with other larger/louder instruments. I watched several review and comparison videos before settling on the Goodtime Banjo Ukulele - it was louder and sounded much better than all the others. Great value for what you get from this instrument. Super cool - highly recommended.

Very well made
This is a nice banjo uke. It's very well mad eand the materials used are also top notch. It's loud enough that I've stuffed the pot with foam so that I can practice without making a world of enemies. It's also an attractive instrument, in its natural maple finish with dark highlights at the nut, saddle and position markers.I shaved off a point because I find the headstock shape, with its sharp corners, can make playing uncomfortable in first position. When playing a G7, for example, the sharp corners can dig into my hand. Yes, I can change my hand position to accomodate, but I'd prefer not having to alter my playing style because of the shape of the headstock. I suspect this would be less of a problem on a tenor and even less so on Deering's full-size Goodtime banjos. But on a concert-scale neck, the space between the nut and first fret is small enough that an average-sized hand (I''m a medium glove size) can come into contact with the pointy bits of the headstock. This may not be a problem for you but, then again, it may. It's not a deal breaker and I still enjoy the instrument. But it's the one negative I've encountered and I wanted to mention it.

A really fun and well-crafted instrument
I bought this as a birthday gift for my wife, and of course I've played it a bit as well. It arrived very well-packed in a banjo box, inside another shipping box. This is our first Deering product, but their reputation preceded them. Craftsmanship is impeccable, with no high/low frets, no jagged fret ends, nothing wiggles or wobbles on it. It's simply a solid little instrument. It arrived tuned about 1.5 steps below pitch, so with a little tuning we were ready to rock (or two-step, or whatever you play with this thing). First thing we noticed is how loud this is compared to a regular uke. Lots of projection, with some added attack to plucked notes due to the banjo body and resonant top. It's a really fun instrument to play, and the sound fills a unique niche in our array of stringed instruments.

The ease of a Ukulele and similar sound to a banjo
I have a great banjo, but it is heavy and large for travel purposes. This was a compromise that has a similar sound and is a good quality. The sound is what I expected. The construction is solid. It holds tuning better than I expected.I also bought the Deering case which I would recommend.

So much fun
We love, love this little instrument. It is far superior to any little banjo uke you could buy. It's heavy. My kids can't hold it and play standing up--I need to buy a strap for it. So fun and unique. Can't recommend it enough.

What a deal... What a Banjo Ukulele!
Came today... Sold by Warehouse Deals... Used in good condition (saved a lot of money)... Looks new to me... Worked on the intonation a bit by moving the bridge back. Well Made, I expected as much from Deering. I had a old banjo suede shoulder strap with plastic end hooks, so as not to scratch... Added that... Tuned it up and 'Wow'... What a nice complex, loud but soft sound. Nice clarity but not overwhelming. I have large hands and the concert neck fills it nicely without feeling like a baseball bat. And I had an old Mandolin soft case that works just fine. Very Happy with purchase.

Beautiful Loud Sound &Well-Engineered — Pegs Keep the Strings in Tune
I have five ukuleles and this, by far, is my favorite. It has a great banjo tone. The strings are close to the neck and very easy to play.
