The item works as expected
UPDATE: first item did not work and showed zero voltage in the receiver units when using a multimeter. The item was returned and replaced with a similar one. The second item works well and as expected. I connected a 5V LED to the receiver and it lights up when placed in or near the transmitter range. Also connected a multimeter to the receiver and it shows a constant 4.8V DC.
