Just BUY this book if you are a designer!
It's not only a packaging book but a book on how to create impressionable brands. Excellent read filled with many examples and requirements relevant to the industry. It starts with the history of packaging, the design/sketching process, print mechanisms to portfolio requirements. Everything needed to land a job. A mandatory for any designer. I go back to it from time to time to strengthen my work.

Text Book Which Can Serve as Future Reference
Purchased as a text book for my graphic design packaging class. Although not an exciting read it contains some valuable information and I expect it to be a great resource in the future.

Arrived in very poor condition.
Bought this used because it said it was in good condition but it can with a bunch of pages ripped out which is super disappointing since I’m using this for school. You can’t even flip the pages without more of them falling out.

Comprehensive and practical introduction to packaging design
This book offers a thorough and comprehensive introduction to the subject of packaging design, covering history, branding, technical/production topics and design process (with case studies) as well as the profession of packaging design. It is generously illustrated and reader-friendly in its layout and design (print edition). It wasn't cheap for a <250-page paperback book but it represents excellent value for money – simply packed with information and guidance and a resource to return to in the future. This is not, like some design books, simply a coffee table collection of unusual or novel portfolio pieces to admire. Also in its favour: the examples include solutions for relatively "mundane" product lines as well as solutions that adopt conventional packaging formats, i.e. solutions for the kinds of challenges one might actually meet in the day-to-day world of package design. And the section on the practicalities of printing and production is illuminating and helpful. Finally, despite being nearly 10 years old, it covers questions of sustainability and the influences of growing consumer eco-awareness.I have only one, very small criticism: some of the case studies (e.g. True Lemon) would have been even more helpful with more commentary on the thinking behind the design choices and their development.
