This watch does not have a perpetual calendar.

Q: Can anyone recommend a nice leather watch band to replace the mesh?

You may replace the mesh band with any leather band as long as it is 22mm wide.

Q: Does watch band replacement require lug holes on the Skagen Holst watches with metal mesh strap?

Examine the type of watch and watchband you have. Some steel mesh straps use a spring-release for the rod and pin in the watch strap; others use screws and need accompanying lug holes in the watch strap. My Holst uses a spring-release watch strap. If the watch has tiny screws where the watchband fits to the watch, you'll need lug holes in the strap. You can buy steel mesh watchbands with lug holes but be careful you measure the distance between the lugs and match it precisely. E.g., you cannot use a 21 mm-drilled watchband on a watch with 20 mm-distanced screws.

Q: What are 3 sub dials for? Are they only decorative or do they work?

I don't have that watch. I have the one with the day and month date and they do work. However, for months with more or less day numbers, you will have to manually adjust it accordingly.
