Excellent, intriguing writing.
I was a little intimidated at first by how many pages and the small size of the letters. But it had Michael Jackson in the title and I'm all about MJ. So I dug in. Howard Bloom is an excellent story teller and has lived a phenomenal life. This book talks about when he worked his way towards becoming a publicist for many rock and roll artists and pop recording artists including the Jacksons. You learn a lot of interesting information about the recording business and many inside stories to the artists he represented. As I read I realized that the book was no longer intimidating but actually enthralling. I am interested in reading more books by Howard Bloom. He is a fascinating person and a fabulous author. I definitely recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.

An enthralling book
The author guides us on his remarkable and implausible journey to the heights of the rock and roll music industry. Along the way he allows us to glimpse the inner core of many of the musical greats of our time. The author also shares his keen insights about the nature and power of different musical genres to reveal and propel societal seismic shifts. The book is beautifully written and a truly exciting and compelling adventure. I would give it six stars if there was another star to give.

An amazing insight
Howard, with his Howard Bloom Organization Ltd., researched, then dove in and uncovered the soul of the music and the performing artist. Howard then preached what he defined as “Secular Shamanism”. My personal fascination with the concept and the procedure of going in and finding the source, that which is the soul of the music stems from my perspective of acknowledging that same concept, only on an individual level. The idea of expanding it to the crowd is remarkable to me.This book, “Einstein, Michael Jackson & Me: A search for soul in the power pits of rock and roll” by Howard Bloom is a detailing of what happened with the bands that I grew up loving. How I came to love them. The secrets behind what it is that made them the artists that changed my life. This book is a wonderful insight into what Howard did to bring these bands to me, by first making me aware of them, and how he helped them define themselves.Thank you Howard for all you’ve done. This book is a wonderful insight into a world that has helped define me and my world.

Great read
A truly fascinating look at the world of music and how it's promoted. The author's personal contact and experiences with many popular recording stars makes for very interesting reading. Well written and a pleasure to read.

20th Century Anthropology.
Robert Plant once sang, “I’m a traveler of both time and space.” However, Howard Bloom actually lived it. Complete with a “star making machine.” If you were anyone in the music scene of the “80’s,” you sought out the scientifically minded, and cosmically gifted Bloom. He was a man who was capable of launching your career to the highest levels through his publicist talents. Do you want to know how the CIA was responsible for the launching of the band The Police? Do you want to hear how he took Joan Jett from sleeping on club floors, to her taking over the rock world? Do you want to know if Ozzy Osborn regrets biting the head off that bat? It’s in this book, along with hundreds of stories of the Who’s Who of the entertainment industry. It’s like walking through Wonkas candy factory, and learning countless secrets of so many of the people we have come to love and admire within the ranks of the global musical realm. This is a fun book, a fun read, a fun ride.

Interesting
The author has a mostly interesting writing style that made me want to keep reading, to see where the story goes. But then the book would just jump away from that story and start another. At first, I followed the jumps, because he makes everything he writes sound interesting. But after the third jump, I just went to the back of the book and looked up where the story continues and read that. When I finished, I realized that I had skipped more than half of the book and didn't want to pick it back up and go back to the skipping around. The vast majority of the most interesting chapters are available in the amazon preview and in the google books preview, but there were a few interesting details that were not available through the previews. When I decided to buy this book, I thought that there would be quite a bit more detail on the main story than there was in the free preview, but there was only a few extra tidbits.I'm giving this book 3 stars, mostly for the extreme jumping around from story to story and partly for not going into enough detail. It does seem to be a factual first hand account and contains material not covered in other books.

Superb Writing that Leaves you Energized
I initially read this book because it included Mr. Bloom’s experiences with Michael Jackson (I’m a fan - and Bloom’s encounters with Jackson are profound and thought provoking). However, I came away with a better understanding of the magical, intangible qualities that made so many of the artists of the 70s/80s so iconic. As someone who is fascinated with public relations, and group psychology, this book was a crash course on making someone into a star.Another takeaway from this book is the importance of following your passion. Before entering the world of entertainment, Howard had a passion for science since he was a child - it’s what enabled him to approach public relations like a science, and is probably part of what made him so successful. This book really is a wild adventure into the pits and soul of rock and roll; you may even learn a bit about yourself through Howard’s journey.

Title is very misleading! If you are a MJ fan he’s only talked about in the first chapter
The title is very misleading! If you are buying this book because you are a must Michael Jackson fan you may be very disappointed he’s only talked about in the first chapter the rest is about other musicians.

A comment on the author's integrity
I have much respect for Mr. Bloom's intellect. I think he would not have written this book which contradicts much of his previous work if he were to be around for feedback. For that I'm sad. He will be missed.Thank you Mr. Bloom. Go in peace.Bill Ireland

Transcends all subject matters to create something truly unique
Howard Bloom delivers not only an incredibly diverse and unique perspective in this book, but he provides some much needed humanity to megastars and their very nature. For example, his words on Michael Jackson and how Michael influenced him make compelling and, at times, touching reading.Howard finds a way to connect the Sciences, Art, the Media and Life in this memoir. What makes the book most impressive is the omnipresent angle in which it is written. I found many times in the book he is humble, warm and contemplative. Perhaps his brilliance is wasted on some, but I can’t stress enough how impressive this book is. Highly recommended.
