Not worth the upgrade from older map
I have an old 2002 edition of this map, and I thought it might be time to upgrade to a new edition. The new 2021 edition is the same 266 pages, almost same size (2021 is taller/narrower but overall similar size) same great spiral bound format, and at only about $15 not expensive for an excellent quality map.Now the differences. Page by page, the new map is similar but there are a few changes. New Mexico (my state) is now on 2 pages instead of 4 pages, and a whole lot of detail and half the campgrounds are not shown. California gets 2 extra pages for more detailed metro areas - but overall the large-format is very similar across the same 266 pages. The new map has a lighter color scheme: lighter green for forests, and Indian Reservations are white instead of brownish orange. The new map has a lighter overall color, which gives better contrast for labeling. Roads are shown on thinner lines, giving a bit more room for labels, but overall there are less labeled items overall. Labels use fewer colors - old map used yellow for campgrounds and red for attractions, but new map uses mostly black and green.I don't use paper maps much any more, but they are very handy for planning trips, because the map quality and detail is far better than online maps. But this new 2021 map has LESS DETAIL overall. Fewer campgrounds are shown, and some attractions are missing. Lesser forest roads are missing from the new map. The old map shows a relief of mountain ranges, but the new map does not. Again, the new map has less clutter, but overall less information is shown. I was somewhat disappointed with the new map.I think it might be worthwhile, just to have a more up to date map, but I hesitate because of the lesser detail shown. To my eyes, the new map is a slight downgrade from my old map. I'll be returning to to Amazon, but thanks for letting me check it out.

Amazingly great for genalogy!
I LOVE this atlas. I actually bought it for road trips because it is really the only way to get that bird's eye view of your whole trip. In reality it is so large it is hard to see how it can work very well for the front seat next to me - it would just slide all over the place. I'll probably just stick to CarPlay for actual navigation. This will likely be the stay at home trip planner and it's perfect for that! Plenty large enough to see all the little towns and landmarks. On the other hand I have made the wonderful discovery of what a great tool this is for genealogy! Nowhere else can you get whole states on a single spread showing the edges of adjacent states, geographical landmarks and best of all: the boundaries of counties! Land records are a key part of doing genealogy and they are almost always by county. Where else can you see so easily the outlines of counties on a current map and see which counties are adjacent? Even though many county boundaries changed over the decades there is nothing else that gives this wonderful birds eye view of neighboring states and counties. Its a fabulous tool for an unexpected use!

Lot's of Interesting Stuff Inside
I loved everything about this atlas. I bought it to use on a trip from Texas to Florida and while our navigation system would tell us turn right in 5 miles or you have reached your destination, I couldn't look at Alabama while I was still in Louisiana. It was fun to look ahead at how the road curved, alternate roads, rest areas, picnic areas, just all kinds of stuff. It helped to know where the next bathroom was. The map symbols were most helpful. This one was large print so it was way easier to read than a regular size map. The size made it a bit cumbersome but not so much as to be unwieldy. I had looked forward to keeping this atlas and looking at all the states and their specialties after I got home but at the last town we stayed the night before we reached our destination, it was set on top of the car while the car was being packed the following morning and we drove off; it slid off; no one noticed. I sure do miss it.

Nice large print
My husband wants a paper map not a digital. The larger print is much better for us now. Very well made.

Great choice for map users
My husband likes maps and insists on having an atlas in the car, but the one we had was regular paper size (about 9x11 actually) and hard for him to read (especially the insets). I got him this large one for Christmas and he loves it. He can see the insets really clearly, and the spiral binding keeps it open and means it won't crinkle when held open. I'm a GPS person myself, but if you like a regular map, this is a really well-made, durable, clear, and accurate (at least as far as we can tell so far) option. We are doing a lot of weekend road trips now that the travel restrictions have kept us from flying like we used to, so this has been helpful already for route planning. He has no complaints about it.

Found I still need a physical map, this is a great one.
I never thought I would buy physical map again because I have everything I need on my phone. However after being caught out driving through the Cascades on unmaintained back roads and being low on gas I found myself wondering where the road was going to come out and if it would be close enough to fuel. If I had only had a map I would've known I was fine. There are times when I don't have cell service so I don't have access to Google maps and for those times I need physical map. I am also considering buying a personal locator device and possibly a satellite phone. I travel alone - I like to explore but there's no reason I can't make myself a safe as I can be.

Grandioser Atlas all of USA

Missing information
I received my 2020 Rand McNally road atlas today. It has all 50 states, but no Canadian provinces in it, even though it states in the Amazon information page about publication details that it contains all tourism websites and phone numbers for all 50 US states and all Canadian provinces on the map pages. But there are no Canadian provincial maps in the road atlas. Every other road atlas that I have bought in the past has had the Canadian provincial maps in addition to the US state maps. I must admit I am disappointed with this road atlas.
