Hinge Pin Tool for Mercury Mercruiser Alpha Gen Bravo One Two Three 91-78310

It fits nice but if you are working on a boat that has been in the water a while there will be corrosion. I ended up mashing both sides and switching to a regular hex bolt socket drive and that worked like a charm. I think if you heated this up red hot and quenched it, that might make it strong enough to use on them old crusty bolts. A little too late to try since its all messed up now but im liking my tool-steel hex drive

Don’t buy this unless you want to buy new hinge bolts. Just go spend the extra $10 on the Mercury/Quicksilver tool. This tool is manufactured to poor tolerances, and does not fit Mercruiser hinge pin bolts properly. See the image that shows how different the profile is between this tool and the correct Mercury tool. It has been worn slightly (from a single use!) but it’s still clear that it was never the right size to begin with. Guys at the boat store laughed when they saw it. This thing is junk.

This tool would not remove my Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 2 hinge pin. It just twisted into. I ended up using a 1/2” impact quality Allen head socked to remove the hinge pins. The iron content is this tool must be low and not hardened.

Tool stripped out first attempt. Had to purchase another from a different company. Poor quality. These bolts are always very tough to loosen due to the thread locker that is used. Do not recommend purchasing this.

Rounded out and rounded damaged the hinge pin. Had to weld it to hinge pin to get removed. Buy direct OEM
