Braille is a tactile writing system for those that are visually impaired. Braille slates and styluses are one of the original methods for writing in braille. While nowadays there are new technologies like braille computer screens and even braille typewriters, the old writing style still has its place. It can be very convenient for the loved ones of a person with visual impairment for writing messages or helping translate. Braille gets its name from its creator, Louis Braille. He lost his sight as a child, and at the age of 15 developed a tactile writing system for the French alphabet. The original tactile writing systems were transcription-based. This means they are a letter by letter translations of their native alphabet. Even within a language, there are variations. Within the United States, American English has three different grades of Braille. Braille is an important tool for the visually impaired. It's also important that we continue to spread awareness and literacy of braille, to help make lives easier for all of those with vision loss.

Love how I can place a 8.5x11" paper in without needing to move the slate.
