Esee’s are my favorite knife brand
Let me start by describing the knife to you. The fit and finish is excellent. The powder coating on the blade is second to none. The 1095 steel is quenched at minus 300 degrees Fahrenheit which takes it to another level. The blade is laser etched with the Esee logo and the Rowen and made in the USA banners. The grip is all black on mine with the 3d and grip enhancing grooves. The color of the blade is desert tan. The sheath is excellent and need not be replaced. Retention is a solid click in place and it has a spring clip for your belt. All in all an impressive knife.Normally when I buy a knife I have to replace the scales and go on the search for a new sheath that I can live with. Not so here. This is a package that you don’t have to shell out $ to replace anything. 1095 is the perfect steel for a survival knife since it can be sharpened in the field and is a tough steel that can handle shock and abuse (don’t abuse your knives). So if you take an $80-$100 we’ll built 1095 survival knife, add $50 for scales and another $50 for a decent sheath and you are $180-$200 into a lesser knife which actually makes this one at $150 a solid value! And if all that is not enough, if you DO manage to break this, Esee has a lifetime “no questions asked” replacement policy.Randall Adventure Training are survival experts and they designed and built this knife. What more could you want?

This is an excellent camp knife, outstanding fit & finish, outstanding sheath and Made in USA
The sheath design is outstanding - holds the knife securely with multiple means of attachment to a belt or molle pack. Finish on the blade was outstanding, it was uniform and smooth as if great care was taken to insure a superior finish. The handle is easy to grip and it has proven to be very durable. The large bolster keeps my index finger away from the cutting edge. This knife is forward heavy which is desirable due to the large blade making this an excellent camp knife. It is Made in USA and kudos to the manufacturer for producing an excellent product. Enthusiastically recommended.

Strong and comfortable, perfectly balanced.
solid knife !i got it and straight choped wood and abused it, feels soo good in the hand and can work for hours, my thimbn was sore the day after where the jimping is but it really not an issue, sick knife perfectly balanced, hard to reprofile the edge and it doesnt come perfectly at 20 degrees (whoch is what esee claims to HANDsharpen their knives to) so it makes sense its not totally accurate accross the bevel, but yeah went in there with the precision work sharp and oh boy oh boy it was a lot of grinding haha, gor mhself the guided benchstone and it should go quicker with that though !really good knife ! i love it

Beast of a knife.
This is a beast of a knife. The sheath is fine and gives a very positive click when knife is inserted in it. Very sharp out of the box and the quality is fine for a knife not this type. The 3D handle is very comfortable. Great price too.

One of the best field knives!
This is one of those must have knives if you enjoy the outdoors. Quality materials and excellent craftsmanship. Edge is a flat grind. The 3d scales are very grippy. Jumping is very secure. The coating will help protect from rusting but will also increase resistance, may remove it.Wish this came in a 5 inch version.

Piece of Art
Great knife, I have to say it. I have research a lot about this knife, so I decided to buy it. The quality is certain there as well as the toughness. I have no doubt that it will perform and live up to its reputation. As to the shipping, I received the knife as expected matching what I had chosen. Thanks Esee for this piece of art.

needs more stars
I EDC a Benchmade (940 Osborne), and I cut anything that needs cutting with it. But I really wanted something fixed-blade with a sheath, for mucking about in the garden, chopping hop bines, and sticks and whatever else. Also wanted it to be bigger, and easy to sharpen, yet not too easy to dull. I have a machete, but it's ... well they're large, no beating around the bush about it (HAR!). I was looking at a couple Ka-bar Beckers around the 6" size, found the ESEE's too, but they cost more. Never did buy anything, until a buddy that goes rock climbing stopped by with both knives. I went to chopping on some old dried hop bines from the year prior. Everything about the ESEE, I liked a lot more than the Becker. The ESEE has contoured micarta scales, a finger choil and jimping. I like the completely flat grind on the ESEE, my friend says it batons better than the Becker because the Becker is thicker at the spine and the grind does not go all the way from edge to spine. Because of the thicker spine on the Becker, the ESEE is noticeably lighter weight. This ESEE comes with a little chunk of paracord and a stopper-thing. The sheath is made well enough for my purposes. The belt clip part is very sturdy, and comes un-attached, if you were wanting to lace this onto a pack or something instead and didn't need the clip. The black coating is very nice and thick. Both of my friend's knives have been camping and used for batoning. The Becker had noticeably worn through the coating; the ESEE appeared barely scuffed. Neither one had broken tips.Unless you have a very real need for the much heavier and thicker blade on something like a Ka-bar Becker, and not just "because" or you think you need it (you probably don't), this ESEE checks all the right boxes and at a really good price too.The only downside I can think of, it didn't come with a matching second one to give to a friend!

Really impressive knife!
I don't have a ton of experience with these survival knives, but I wanted to own at least one for camping and such. The build quality is top notch, you can tell its a solid, well made knife with very high end steel. The sheath isn't anything fancy but does its job. Only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was it showed up a bit less sharp than I was expecting.. I was hoping this thing would be razor shaving sharp out of the box... and it just wasn't. Felt very much like a utility or field edge, but it will do the job its intended for I'm sure.
