A long-lasting way to save energy, enhance privacy, and reduce dangers of shattering
To reduce expenses and to help protect the environment, in early 2021 our household started taking a number of measures to cut our energy consumption. Those measures have proven successful: total 2021 electricity consumption in our single-family, detached home in the US SE was about 8,000 kWh (3,200 of which was for AC), compared to about 11,000 kWh annual average in previous years. [UPDATE on 1/1/23: our total electricity consumption in 2022 dropped even further to just 5,500 kWh (1,600 of which was for HVAC) for the year. We have HALVED our electricity consumption. Huge savings. This window film continues to hold up beautifully despite exceptional temperature variations this past year; it has withstood a harsh stress test.]Applying this Statint window film has been part of our strategy. We tested the idea by applying the film only on our bathroom windows (actually, on the storm windows) several months ago. We are pleased, so much so that we have just reordered the film to apply it to other windows, placing priority on those windows that a) receive considerable direct sunshine here in the hot SE of the USA or b) can be looked into by neighbors or from the street. We have found that this window film safeguards our privacy nicely when the light outside is brighter than the light inside. If we want privacy when it’s dark out, we just close the curtains. We have also discovered that the film significantly reduces the amount of bright light shining through the windows, giving the rooms a softer, more cool-colored feeling. Some members of our household, keen to maintain as much natural light as possible, have vetoed the idea of having the film applied on the windows of their rooms.Another benefit of the film is that it can protect against the shattering of the glass in the event of, for example, a ball flying into it, a thief trying to break through it and get in, an extreme weather event … or a war – I saw on TV the other day a man applying film to his windows in the Ukraine. When it comes to applying this film, here are some lessons I learned:a) Be patient; take your time; think quality over quantity. There are some jobs around the house that can be done well with a mindset of speed and high energy; this isn’t one of them. To do this job well, a mindset of calm and of quality of work is called for. Approach this task when you have a good chunk of unhurried time available, then put on some music you enjoy and settle calmly into a useful task.b) Trial and (frustrating) error taught me to cut the film BEFORE applying it. I learned to carefully measure the windows, then cut the film with 1/8” to spare on all sides. This made it much easier to apply the film. True, we now have 1/8” of untinted window all the way around, but that’s barely noticeable, and the cut lines are clean. With this method, I don’t risk scratching the glass of the storm windows or cutting into their rubber edging. It’s also far less unwieldy. By cutting in advance, application becomes a very manageable one-person job.c) When preparing to cut the film, completely clear and clean the biggest table you have in your house. Do your cutting there. A carpenter square comes in handy when drawing lines for cutting: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086R74VLKd) Use a felt-edge squeegee to get bubbles out, and press only as hard as is necessary; otherwise, you might end up with scratches. Great for privacy and shade
I mainly bought this product due to the static cling application. We live in an apartment and I didn’t want to deal with the glue on traditional tint when the the tint needs peeled off. The reflective side is another great benefit living in an apartment. Now I don’t have nosy neighbors staring into our apartment. So far I’ve had two neighbors reach out for the link so they can buy some also. I highly recommend buying a window tinting kit, and a large squeegee. I bought my kit for 8.99 and got the squeegee at Walmart. After squeegeeing a majority of the film, the small card that comes with a tint kit works great for an even straight line cut and doing a final squeegee pass on the film. I’ve noticed that you always want a sharp blade with this film due to its thickness. If it’s not sharp it will either snag the film and make an ugly edge, or it will only cut halfway through. Take your time and follow the instructions. The only cons I noticed were1: being static cling, it loves hair. If you have animals I highly suggest you drench your window and drench the the back of the tint. Prep is key in most tinting situations2: it seemed to crease easy on me while unrolling and taking off the protective back. I haven’t tried using heat to get the creases out like traditional window tint, but I do know that I can’t just squeegee out some of the creasesOverall it’s an awesome product for what it is, installation is fairly easy, the shade is great, the privacy of the reflective side is a huge bonus, and it helps the kids be able to nap easy. We’re waiting on the next billing cycle to see if we were able to save a few dollars but you can feel the heat reduction during the middle of the day.

Relatively easy install for window tint.
This window tint is static cling and heavier than "traditional" tint that is thin and has adhesive. Relatively speaking its easier to work with and doesn't want to bend and stick to itself as easily - making the finished job look better.I was a little concerned for a few days after install as it appeared hazy however, once all of the soapy water eventually evaporated between the film and window it looked much clearer. There's still a bit of wavy-ness if you look closely but it's no worse than the distortion from window screen. If you want a mirrored look, I would pass on this one. It has a slight mirror-look but, it certainly doesn't block the outside from seeing in - which in my case was okay.As for actual use - it dramatically reduces the heat coming into a room but, isn't too dark. The room it's used in has two windows on different walls and it's not awkwardly obvious that one is tinted and one is not.I will definitely purchase this again for other windows.

Totally works but is not very easy to install
I highly recommend. It is perfect to see out and very hard to see in during the day. Night is a different story if lights are on inside and dark outside you can see in. Still a great option for my front door window. This allows me to see out and keep light with privacy inside. Please note that this a two man job and it is simple to install but not easy to install. I have bubbles that I don’t love and although I used the kit I bought for an extra cost I still had a few bubbles at the end and a few jagged cuts on side. I’m not a professional by any means but I did find it took over an hour and thankfully my neighbor came to help.

Used on large window with overlap
It is pretty easy to line up or overlap on large windows and still looks good. Used the 2 cups water to 1/4 teaspoon baby shampoo solution, worked great for application. It *very easily scratches* use a cloth tip application tool, I used paper towel wrapped on a plastic one and it still scratched it. It also creases if your working with to big of a peice. Cut your peice a few inches above what you need only.

El color está muy padre, cuando es de día no se ve, pero se ve en el interior en la noche, igual es lo de menos, pero en relación con el precio si es costoso
