The display is good quality with a nice touch interface. The screen backlight turns off when the screen is in sleep mode. I am using it on my Voron Trident 300, which I feel is about the right size and easy to use with Klipper screen.

I went through several touchscreens for my pi which also controls my 3d printer and acts as the touch interface for it. All of them were HDMI with GPIO touch and even with drivers installed, they never fit the screen right, would have windows cut off and touch/multitouch is impossible without a tiny stylus you lose every time you turn around... Pus.. don't get me started on the adventures required jut to track down drivers at times..This display was the OPPOSITE... I plugged in the connector cable for the DSI port on the Pi4 and turned it on... that was it. Raspbian worked perfectly with responsive "FINGER" based touch, the desktop fit the screen without anything cut off and the colors just look rich and vibrant.I highly recommend. The Pi4 has a DSI/CSI interface for display and camera for a reason.. so USE IT! :)

the screen works great if your going to need more browser space then I would upgrade as I did. other than that great screen for small projects

You can likely get away with the 5" screens, but this is a great fit, and super responsive and accurate. I was again pleasantly surprised at the quality of the touch interface and how well it worked out of the box with klipperscreen.

This Waveshare display is Excellent. I am pretty happy with the touchscreen performance, color and functionality of the display. The only thing which concerns me are the metal standoffs broke. They were actually sticked to the PCB and they came off the board. Here is when the metal touches the internal electronic components it can actually fry your electronics, so you will have to figure out a way to how to use maybe plastic standoff instead of metal and glue it back to the same area. I wish it would have been screwed into the LCD frame instead of just gluing on the top.

I got this to use with a Raspberry pi 3 to run piCore and make a screen for a little speaker I'm building. This worked just fine. I've shown the complete config.txt file in the images, the only changes I had to make were to add the lines at the end in the custom section as shown, and change the screen round by changing the line lcd_rotate=2 to lcd_rotate=0 just above.disable_splash=1avoid_warnings=2gpu_mem=128hdmi_group=2hdmi_mode=87hdmi_cvt 480 800 60 6 0 0 0dtoverlay=ads7846,cs=1,penirq=25,penirq_pull=2,speed=50000,keep_vref_on=0,swapxy=0,pmax=255,xohms=150,xmin=200,xmax=3900,ymin=200,ymax=3900This is a great size for a little project like this, just a bit bigger than the pi, and best of all it uses the DSI interface (the orange ribbon cable on the back on the left in the third picture) so there is no giant hdmi cable sticking out the side. The power draw does not seem to high, I could boot and run the pi with this on and a HiFiBerry DAC, and an external USB hard drive all running off a Samsung phone charger I had handy. I did not have to calibrate the touch screen, it just worked once the screen was rotated. The versions of everything I ran werepiCorePlayer v8.2.0 | www v00017 | linux 5.15.35-pcpCore-v8 (64) | piCore v13.2 | Squeezelite v1.9.9-1392-pCPSo, overall very happy, just have to get cutting the wood up and make the rest of the thing now.
