Doesn't Work Consistently for 2019 Macbook Pro, 2017 Macbook Pro
I purchased this item Renewed.I had inconsistent display issues with an external monitor using this port for my 2019 Macbook Pro. After enough unplugs/replugs, I could usually get it to work. During the hour or so that I used it, the signal would crap out intermittently. This device was incapable of working with the 2017 Macbook Pro for external display for more than a minute. There seems to be something wrong with it in terms of compatibility. On the plus side, charging worked fine. I didn't get the chance to test out the other features because I was really looking forward to using it to manage displays + charge.

Did Not Work for Me
I had high hopes for this product, but the biggest let down was that my laptop said it did not have enough power from the docking station to charge. I only have a 14 inch Dell Latitude, so I thought it would have no problem. Supposedly you could have it charge by plugging in both the docking station AND the external power adapter at the same time, but what is the point in that? I returned it, and the seller promptly refunded the purchase, so I don't fault the seller.

Good mid-range Thunderbolt/USB-C dock!
This isn't a super high-end dock, but it's certainly better and more fully featured than an awful lot of those that are out there. There are models from other manufacturers with more features at this price point, but many of those are either USB-C only, or Thunderbolt only, and don't have the universal compatibility that this one does. The unit ships with everything you need to get started IF you already have DisplayPort cables. Those aren't included, and they'll be necessary, as this doesn't have any HDMI outputs. And maybe it was just the one that I tried, but I couldn't get my DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter cable to work. I had to connect to my monitors using DisplayPort. It's nice that the unit has two USB A 3.1 port in addition to a single USB C 3.1 and a pair of USB A 3.0 ports. The extra speed of USB 3.1 is nice when copying files to/from SSDs. I can achieve over 500 MB/sec with USB 3.1 NVMe SSD drives. There's a headset (headphone/microphone combo) jack on the front, and it works, but you have to manually switch your computer to use it instead of its built-in speakers and microphone. Not the end of the world, but worth noting. The case is made of plastic, which is expected at this price point. It's fairly lightweight, so if you have any heavy cables dangling they might have a tendency to pull this off of the desk. It might have been nice for it to have just a little bit more weight to it to counteract the weight of any attached cables. The only issues I had with this are (1) that the USB Power Delivery output is only 60W, where my Dell XPS laptop prefers closer to 100 watts, and (2) that I couldn't get my DisplayPort to HDMI adapter working and had to buy a second DisplayPort cable to connect my second monitor. Other than that this dock worked great, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for someone needing this combination of features. If you don't need USB-C compatibility there are probably better choices at this price, but if you do want to be able to use either Thunderbolt or USB-C computers, this is a good choice.

Quit Working After A Small Amount Of Use
I got about 30min of use out of the VisionTek before it quit working. I had my macbook pro connected to a 4k monitor through DisplayPort, and all of a sudden the monitor lost connection and could no longer see the video.Switching to the other port, siwtching cables and even monitors made no difference, and since it doesn't offer an HDMI connector, that's pretty much it for the VisionTek.Some observations while it was working:* It looks and feels like a very cheaply made device.* They don't offer HDMI at all, but has 2 Displayport connectors* It has a pretty logical layout in terms of where the connectors are, it made connecting pretty easy.Obviously, because of the problem that I encountered I can't recommend it. Had it continued working, I could see it fitting a niche as a USB-C capable hub, being cheaper than the Cal Digit unit, but more expensive than the slew of much cheaper units that don't offer as many display options and aren't self-powered.

Truly Universal
With all of the technology that most of us have in our homes, docking stations are becoming more essential. This one has a leg up on the competition. It has the fastest transfer speeds on the market. It's also truly universal. It's small and compact. It takes up very little space. It makes the perfect gift for a tech fan. I HIGHLY recommend this product. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this review. I hope the information that I've provided makes your decision a little easier.

Simple, easy... Great Value!!
The hub occupies both USB-C ports on the left side of a MacBook Pro, and comes with a magnetic adapter hold it in place and avoid accidental disconnections.Hyper has the ports Apple left out of your MacBook Pro, Ipad Pro or MacBook Air!The Hyperdrive Duo 7 in 2 uses the two USB-C ports on newer MacBook Pro/Air into 7 ports. This effectively gives you all the ports you need and 4k 60 hz video via HDMI, USB-C 40Gbps 100W and 5Gbps 60W Power Delivery, 2 x USB-A 5Gbps and MicroSD/SD 3.0 UHS-I 104MB/s).I have been using this 2020 version for more than a week and absolutely love it.

Great docking station with a reasonable price.
Since we've gone work-from-home for the longest, I needed an assortment of docking stations for myself, my family and my team and I wanted to keep this one for myself and am really happy with it. The transfer speeds are excellent and I haven't had any problems with any of the devices I need to plug into my laptop. When I need to go to the office, I am able to take this with me to work efficiently there as well. A great investment for the home office.

Works great!
Got this in hopes of allowing my laptop to gain more connections so I can add more to it and it works great! I have not used it to transfer files or anything along those lines, but as a very expensive docking station it works great! We used it to add a second display as well as more peripherals since my laptop only has 3 USB ports and we are running all wireless peripherals, including a VR headset. Regardless, I'm very happy with this product!
