Okay so I typically ignore when a review says something smells because it typically airs out in a couple days. BUT these have been outside for 4 days now and every time I bring them in... they smell just as strong. Not just a “I can smell it when my face is up against it” thing like I put them in my entryway every night when I bring them in from airing out... and I can smell them when I come downstairs in the morning.So do with that information what you will, they look nice and seem pretty sturdy so I’ll give them a couple extra days and some febreeze but I don’t think I’m too hopeful about the smell 🙁

I really like the design and size of it, but I realized (after a frantic search to find out the cause) that touching these boxes cause me to have really bad allergic dermatitis. I initially thought it was caused by other things, but I was able to rule them out by eliminating them from my apartment. I then began to notice that the reaction started with my arm and spread. So I started wearing gloves touching these boxes and got better. Then once I forgot to put on the gloves, and again got intense itch and bumps all over my arm which spread to every inch of my body. I highly discourage anyone from purchasing this... I suspect they may use some kind of horrible chemicals to make these.

Smells absolutely horrific. Not specifically a chemical smell, just a sour awful smell that clings to anything that goes in these bins - including electrical cords and cables (so you KNOW it’s bad).They look nice stuffed into an IKEA Kallax bookcase, but the smell hits you within 2feet of it. It’s absolutely a dealbreaker.

I’m torn whether I should recommend these or not.First of all they’re gorgeous! The colors, the handle, the fabric, everything is great quality. They’re durable and large.But that smell!! I read the reviews before I purchased but figure people are too sensitive or exaggerate. In this case they aren’t! I have a really high sense of smell and when I first smelled these it was bad! I put them outside to air out for a week before I felt it might be ok to bring them in. They still smelled bad but I figured it was just me and my strong nose and I would just deal with it. My husband has a really bad sense of smell so when he says they smell bad I know it’s serious. I sprayed.. no soaked these in febreeze and left them out a few more days. Didn’t help. I’ve had these since Sept 24th and it’s taken weekly febreeze showers and a plug in right next to them for the smell to begin to fade away. I still get strong hints of the smell especially when I pull one out and use it. I don’t know when it will be gone completely, but it shouldn’t take this long.The baskets themselves are great but the smell is really that bad.. like puke and rotten food. It WILL stink up the whole room.

The product seems fine enough, and would have served its purpose as closet bins except for the awful smell that hits as soon as you open the packaging. We tried Febreze spray, fabric softener sheets, and airing them out overnight outside to no avail. No way I’m putting these in my closet near my clothes—much less putting clothes IN them—to absorb that stench.

They smell is so bad it makes me gag being in the same room with these. Its been 17 days since they were delivered and they still make the entire room smell like a rotten milk mixed with puke. 4 of those 17 days we left them outside and nothing changed. We even tried to spray it with Febreze multiple times and that did nothing.

In terms of aesthetics, sturdiness, and value, these boxes are very good. That said, upon opening the package, the chemical smell was unbearable--like REALLY bad. I've had similar experiences with other purchases where the smell is bad initially, but it dissipates after awhile, and so we sent these boxes to the garage to off-gas for a few days... and then a few days more... and now nearly four weeks later, they smell just as bad as the day we took them out of the packaging. They're so bad, in fact, that our 11-year-old son plugs his nose whenever he has to go into our two-car garage; the smell actually permeates the whole area. It's that bad. Disappointed and returning now. Too bad, because they look good and seem sturdy enough for our storage purposes.

The storage cubes seem well constructed but they have a horrible odor. Smells like lawn fertilizer! I have placed them near a window to air out with hopes of being able to keep them. I might have to return them as they are not suitable for use with the odor.

These are so so good quality, the fabric is really nice and the leather handles just make it look so good.Great boxes, I used them for my son's toys under his bed....he loves them too...no time to assemble and makes his access to toys easy AND his room is so tidy as he likes using those boxes ;)Would buy again

Honestly I cannot praise this company enough. Amazing product but customer service is outstanding! I enquired about a product out of stock, they checked their future orders and even updated me when these were available. Communication was well above standard and Michael went above and beyond. I would recommend to anyone!!!

Omg!!!!!!! It smells absolutely awful! Not sure if it’s straight from the factory but never will I put my clothes or anything inside. Not sure if the smell is the cloth itself or the glue that is keeping it together? HORRIFIC scent .. I had to move them to the backyard to air out because I could not keep them in the house or garage. Fingers crossed they air out.. otherwise complete waste of money and totally useless!!!!!!! Message to the seller: please make sure your product doesn’t smell like disgusting garbage!

Like the reviews mentions, there is a very strong factory smell that lingers for quite some time. I did the fabric softener sheet in the box, sprayed with odour neutralizer and over a month later they still smell (strong). I use these boxes to store art supplies so I don’t much care about the smell and am not frequently sticking my face in there so I don’t mind it. They’re beautiful boxes, made well for their purpose, and perfect fit in the IKEA Kallax shelves.

I read all the review and was very hesitant to buy because of the smell everyone mentioned. I thought about it for a couple weeks and then decided to go ahead and buy. There is a smell, but it's not nearly as strong as I thought it would be. I have to be in super close proximity to smell anything and it's not very overpowering. They fit great in my ikea kallax and I'm almost sure my 14 month old wont be able to destroy these easily. Ultimately, it was a great buy!
