Poor manufacturing/assembly
These are expensive but beautiful grips no doubt. I got a set and a replacement for it as well. The replacement was worse than the first set. Here is what’s wrong. The nice texture inlay that you see is glued to the rest. The problem is that whoever is putting these together does not take pride in their work and 1. Uses too much glue that spills over and is clearly visible on the edge, 2. With the filthy glue fingers they touch the finish on the rest of the grip completely ruining the finish.I’m ok dropping $60 on this item if I can get one that is not ruined in production. Shame on the QC to let this go through.

Purchased for late model SW 38 airweight.
Beautiful grips. Much better for my very large hands than the factory rubber. Lends more control and accuracy when using weapon. That being said, when these arrived they were a perfectly matched pair and beautiful in appearance. When I installed them on my frame however they would "offset" very slightly leaving a small ridge front and back. Three times I removed and reinstalled these with the same results. I still have the grips installed and love them anyway...this firearm is a carry piece and is subject to abuse during a farmers normal day. In fact, it's already scratched up from a Ram pushing me into a wall lol. Bottom line, I would buy these again without hesitation. This tiny fitment issue is only visible when looking closely. Great product.

Will make my own next time.
Technically fit the gun, but they aren't fitted to the gun. On the backstrap of the gun the grips were fitted squared off and did not match the rounded contours of the pistol. Hade to get out the files and sandpaper to custom fit and then used tru-oil for a new finish. Manufacturer quality control is really lacking. The S&w J frames have been made with the same profile for 60+ years and it shouldn't be that hard to match it. This is just a bad corporate financial decision of "good enough" showing up again. Will make my own set next time.

Great grips!
Perfect fit and finish. Really makes a difference in keeping it under control with the added real estate near the bottom. That, and makes the revolver look awesome. The space between the grips is so small its practically imperceptible. Fit was very snug so I had to use a rubber mallet to get the halves together. Do yourself a favor and get a set of these!

638 Shrouded trigger.
I bought this grip to replace the factory synthetic grip on a S&W 638+p Airweight. The model i have has a shrouded trigger which is petty much encased so i was afraid it may not fit so well.I took a chance and bought the grip and it fit like a dream.Took about 5 min tops pins and everything lined up perfect. Looks fantastic and now looks great with my S&W 686 and 629 Deluxe Plus Rosewood handled revolvers. Was very pleased with the grip Feels much better too. Highly recommended.

Spectacular
This is a beautiful piece of workmanship (by robots). The fitment is superb and once installed it looked and felt as if it were one piece of wood. There were no serious gaps between the grip and the metal. A word of caution, once installed it becomes very difficult to remove, so if you are trying to get them off --- be cautious. The fitment of the grips is so exact that they are very tight when joined together on the firearm. The size and fit is very similar to a set of Hogue "rubber" grips with a bit more material on the upper left side at the top. The "feel" is obviously quite different, yet still secure.

Smith & Wesson J frame grips.
Absolutely first rate. I'm glad I selected these as opposed to others offered on Amazon. They fit my old Smith & Wesson model 36 perfectly. They are hand filling, which is necessary for controlwhen shooting, but do not add to the overall size of the revolver, which was designed as a concealablefirearm. I appreciate that they are solid wood and not laminated. The appearance is excellent.

Some things are great, other things suck
The bad first:1. The left grip will absolutely not allow speedloader use. No go with both Safariland and HKS loaders. This is a deal breaker with grips. I have to be able to reload quickly.2. The interior of the grips was unfinished. Bare wood. Unacceptable workmanship.3. The interior profile where the butt of the gun frame fits was oversized all the way around. Even with the two dowel pins in place and the grip screw properly tightened, the grips still had play to the frame of the gun.I should have returned them but these grips fit my hand so well and made the revolver (S&W 637) point and index perfectly (unlike the OEM boot grips) that I decided to fix all three problems myself. I relieved enough material off the top of the left grip to allow speedloaders to fit, refinished that and the inside of both with satin polyruethane, and used JB Weld as a liquid shim to bed the backstrap of the gun to the grips. What's even worse is that the Altamont NU grips that came as OEM grips on my Performance Center 627 fit perfectly.
