The Gulf War: A Captivating Guide to the United States-Led Persian Gulf War against Iraq for Their Invasion and Annexation of Kuwait (U.S. Military History)

A book with a few flaws,but enjoyable
The book has a few errors, one glaring in that the USAF did not use the B-17 in the gulf war. Other then that it was good to read another person's point of view. This is a great way to explore one's views when faced with one that you do not agree with. It's not a bad idea to challenge your point of view ,it enlarges one's perspective and brings more colors to the picture.

Informative
This is a read that gives you the information that you might not have known about the Gulf War. This was the first war that was played out on televisions in the world. A recommended read.

Great background but week on the actual war
This book did a very good job at painting the picture of relations between Iraq and Kuwait up to the war itself. However, it put way to much emphasis on the US's supposed technological superiority and not nearly enough focus on the men and woman who actually fought the war. I would love to see a revision to this book on a few topics. For one, a lot of that new equipment we fielded actually didn't do the job (and wound up dissapearing from the arsenal) and we fell back on pre Vietnam equipment to fight with. I would also like to see a lot more information on the troops. I also get the feeling that the Iraqi resistance was very minimal according to this book. I can state first hand that the Republican Guard at least was formidable and didn't go down without a fight. Unfortunately this all helps perpetuate the myth that this was some kind of Easy war that only lasted for four days. With all that said I do recomend this book based on the information leading up to the war but at the same time could benefit greatly from a revision to the actual war itself.

As usual .....
As usual: great depth of research and detail from 'Captivating History'.There's heaps of background information before getting to the actual 'war' itself / in fact: about half the book / then details of the war - then a detailed look at the aftermath from several points of view.Although: the writer (or editor?) does tend to put their own slant on the justification and rationale behind the war and its consequences.

Apparently hindsight is not 20/20
The author is biased to excusing Iraq’s perfidy and overestimating coalition (untested) capability. The summation of history prior to the conflict was more helpful than the rendering of the politics of the time.

Finally something I witnessed!
This took place when I was a young girl and I didn't understand what was going on as I watched coverage about this on the news. It was nice to actually read about it and learn how it started and why it took place. Another excellent book by Captivating History.

Very basic history not what is described
Very disappointed in this. Never judge a book by its cover and description. The contents of this have pretty much been copied and re worded from a Wikipedia article.
