I recently moved into a "newish" house with plaster board walls, having previously lived in a solid house made of brick and breeze block. I have thus had to learn new DIY skills in order to mount shelves on the walls. The on-line video on how to fix shelves, etc. safely on to plaster board walls is very useful. This encouraged me to purchase snaptogglers. They are easy to fix but you have to use a wire/pipe detector to ensure you are drilling in safe places. Also customers need to ensure that they have instructions. I have found that it is better to use a 12mm drill rather than the recommended drill size of 13 mm as the rotating metal end of the snaptoggler will just slip through the drill hole and makes a more snug fitting when tightening the bolt. I have now mounted several shelves with heavy loads and the fittings are secure. Also you may need to ensure that the wall cavity is sufficiently deep. I had a problem when trying to erect shelves in my garage which had had plaster board walls erected after the house was built - and the cavity was too shallow to allow use of the snaptogglers. In this instance I used the metal Fischer cavity fixings - and these worked.
