Q: Do i need the plug and play harness to make the steps work? If not what does it do

The power boards come with a harness that plugs into the OBDII connector. The extra harness you can buy is just a y adaptor so you still have an OBD II contector available for something else. Everything you need will come with the runnning boards.

No. You'll need part # 75104-01A. If you do not have remote keyless, you'll need additional diodes that you can get from Amp-Research.
