5Ghz 160 Mhz Channels Broken
The difference between this AP and the R710, which can be had for considerably less money, is that the R720 supports 80+80 and 160 Mhz channels, which allow PHY rates of 1733mbps v 866mbps on clients that support 2x2 WiFi streams. Unfortunately, there is an issue affecting the latest version of unleashed, which is probably what you'll be running if you're using this in a residential setup, that kills download throughput when either option is enabled. While it works great and is fast on 80Mhz channels, so is the R710.The only other differences are that the R720 requires POE++ v POE+ for the R710, and POE++ is much more expensive, and that the R720 has a 2.5Gbe wired port, which will only matter if you have a switch that supports that AND have a bunch of clients.
