Cool Rocks
Very cool that you can purchase these on Amazon. I don’t know why I was expecting more from these rocks but they are what they are. Kids were impressed for 5 minutes.5 stars because item was as described.

Good basalt specimen
This is a very nice basalt specimen. It wasn't too chipped and its size is good (as pictured). This is great for science classes or anyone who is interested in geology. Overall, I'm pleased.

These are smaller than 1 inch. Other than that, I couldn’t tell you much more. I will look elsewhere for bigger ones

Some pieces may be smaller than what is pictured
Most of the specimens I received from this order were quite small. They are of good quality though.I purchased the same 6 pack of 1" Basalt specimens from Eisco Labs a couple of months ago as well, but through eBay, and all of the specimens were much closer to the one pictured in the center here. These were purchased for aquarium use, so I will still be able to use them. The different sizes and shapes will look nice. My only issue is they will not cover the amount of space per specimen as I was wanting.I will order another 6 pack of these and compare sizes, then update my review.Update:The second 6 pack I bought was similar to the one in the photos. Specimen sizes varied, though one or two were larger this time. All in all, these are great quality basalt pieces. I think they look great in my aquarium, though some pieces were smaller than expected.

Used for Geology class
Could be better banded but worked for the ID lab I was doing.

Smaller Than Shown
I’m not a big geologist, but teach science and am also an avid lunar exploration aficionado. I thought it would be neat to have a moon-like rock, some genuine basalt, to display next to some of my Apollo models. This specimen is just fine, but a little smaller than shown and than I expected. At this price I found it acceptable, but look elsewhere if you want a more impressive specimen.
