mediocre but ok for the novice
be warned: while these are decent sounding singing bowls, if you want the real thing you will need to find them elsewhere. they are mediocre both in sound and in craft but perfectly acceptable to the novice. while they look great, save your money if you want something more authentic and pure in sound quality. I contacted the company to see if they were willing to trade up but the trail went cold. disappointing.

Each bowl is beautiful to see, to feel, to hear. Individual works of art. Yay!
VISUALLY BEAUTIFUL. Shiny, and smooth to the touch. Heavy. Lovely sounds. My largest bowl was actually measured at 11 inches in diameter and is able to be inverted on top of the head as seen in some videos. They all ring for a long time when you figure out the right mallet to use on each bowl. They all sound well together when you tap them one after the other and the sounds blend.. You can hear partials from each bowl. Although I haven't, as yet, checked the specific frequencies with the app I installed on my cell phone, each bowl is different and has a unique personality . I understand that the diatonic scale related to the chakra systems was not figured out until way, way, way after the singing bowls were used for healing and addressing chakras, so I am not going to be terribly particular if they are not exactly based on the diatonic scale. There is an "earthy" deep quality to the timbre. As I was choosing my purchase, I prayed that the singing bowl set I would be receiving would be the perfect set for my chiropractic/acupuncture office to help people. Originally, I purchased a set (same item number) from a different distributor. The order was cancelled because they were "out of stock". I ordered this (same item number) set from a different distributor (Thamelmart). Originally, made in Nepal, they arrived from California in just a few days, actually a week early. Prayer really helped because I have received what is my idea of a perfect set of brand new singing bowls. People notice them right away because they really are beautiful and they are a good conversation-starter. They open the door to speaking with people about energy. I love each of these bowls individually, and, I love them as a set. I would love to have another set to keep at home for my family, including the pets, and myself. Every time I see them or hear them, I know I have made the right choice. (This comment/review is written by Dolores, not Stephen)

What I received was not what was described.
Beware! Description said this was a chakra set, which means each bowl should be tuned to a specific note or frequency. But some were duplicates, some sharps and flats, and I did not get all the notes. Pictures shows several mallets but all of my mallets were the same size. I am experienced at playing Tibetan bowls, but 3 of these I could not make sing due to poor quality of the bowl. Also, the bowls were all dirty. Attempted to return but missed the return window by just a couple of days due to family health emergency. Company refused to be flexible. Paying hundreds of dollars for these bowls, I expect to get what's described, have a better quality product, and have much better customer service.

Great set! Just wish the smallest bowls were less alike.
This is a great set of singing bowls with beautiful tone and it comes with a great set of mallets! The only reason I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the two smallest bowls in my set are tuned almost identically. In fact, when using the gong mallet, the smallest bowl has a lower tone than the slightly bigger one, completely contrary to what one would expect. Because they are so close in tone, it almost seems as though I only have 6 bowls instead of seven.

Smallest bowl won't sing
Sounds Good when striking but getting them to sing is difficult

Wonderful Collection
Bottom line; if you're thinking about buying a set of singing bowls, you need look no further. These are FANTASTIC! First, they shipped ridiculously fast and came to my door much sooner than expected. Secondly, they are very well packaged to ensure they arrive safely. However, once you unwrap them, each bowl is very pleasing to the eye and has a nice heft to it without feeling unduly heavy. Finally, the sound; the sound of each and every one of these bowls is just beautiful. Whether struck with the mallet (and there is a very nice selection of mallets and strikers included) or sung (either female or male voice), each bowl very willingly sings with a bright and cheerful voice, with a very long and pleasing sustain. The ornate and detailed cushions that come for each bowl just add in making this a "must have" set for any singing bowl enthusiast. The fact that these are handmade in Nepal and are so inexpensive (it's easy to find websites that sell ONE BOWL for twice what this set costs!) makes the purchase of this set a truly smart and economical idea. Both my wife and I greatly enjoy incorporating these bowls into our times of Buddhist meditation, and I know they will provide us with many years of enjoyable singing.

You get what you pay for!
Poorly made bowls. Wasn't really a chakra set. Seller was rude when I wanted to return--i called the day I received to express my dis-satisfaction and sent them back the next day! Buyer beware!
