My best buy in a while - sharing experience after nearly 50l of juice produced
Let me start with the single negative part. Two square wood blocks are not enough if you want to either a good yield or don't fill it 100%. You need six (or as in my case two more double height ones) for proper operation. I didn't downgrade it for that as it seems 'industry-standard' if you look as other comparable offers here. This is for the 12l Fruit PressWith that out of the way - here is my experience so far. A single load can be up to 9 kg of prepared fruit. This should give you around 4 1/1 liter of fruit juice.Yields: I so far did apple (up to 53%), pear (up to 55%) and quince (up to 61%).Preparation is the key !! My first attempt - apples washed, core removed, cut into 8ths yielded maybe 15%. You really need to crush/pulp the fruit. You find three main options mentioned elsewhere online: a) kitchen food processor - I didn't try it. But doing this on a large scale might take a long time / might sooner or later ruin your food processor b) a fruit crusher - likely the best option, alas they are even more expensive as the fruit press. This is on my wish list for next season but wasn't in the budget this year c) a bucket and a large pole.I'm showing this in the first image. The bucket was used before for feeding horses, the pole was a leftover from a DIY job building a Victorian Window Frame. It also was used to cut two short pieces off.So here is my workflow for 50%+ yields - it takes just below an hour start to finish1) Wash the fruit in a large tub and cut into quarters - remove any moldy pieces. Put the clean precut fruit into a large bucket. No - I no longer bother to take out the core - unless it looks moldy or is infested.2) Pulp the fruit in approx. 1 1/2 hg batches and add to the press. Originally I did batches twice the amount but it doesn't save time and rather leaves too many large pieces or needs too much extra time.3) Do a first press. This is actually quite quick and should yield around 35%+. I'm not bothered to get the last bit out at this stage.4) Empty everything back into the pulping tub and pulp it a little bit more. This probably is more about mixing it - but you also can take care of any shoddy work in step 2. Fill it back into the press.5) Do a second press. This should yield another 15-20% yield.6) Optional: If you have time then just leave it. The longer, the better. A few hours or overnight can yield 5% more even if no more juice seemed to come and if you couldn't turn it anymore. You will notice that even after just an hour you can turn it more easily again. Off course it means no second batch in that time.Actually most of the time is preparation - the whole juicing process is just over 5 minutes (per pressing - not allowing extra yield for wait time). What else? The whole press comes pretty much completely assembled. You unpack, place the round bucket on the metal tray ensuring it is pretty much in the center, add the cloth into the bucket, fill in pulped fruit, place the two semi round wooden blocks on the pulp, add wooden blocks for height as needed.I have seen some fruit press that needed you to screw all the lattice to the metal hoops. Certainly not worth a few pounds saved. The wood used is oak. Might be useful to add to the description. I can't tell if cheaper versions use cheaper wood - but wouldn't hurt to write it here and not have it hidden in the manual. It is shipped from Germany. This explains the long shipping time. For me it took 10 days. No extra taxes - not a 100% given here in the UK since Brexit. So I mention it here.

Easy to use but takes a while
Love the fact we can turn our apples into juice! Tried using the press without smashing up the apples first and that doesn’t work! We now freeze and defrost our apples first to soften them and then we get about 2ltrs of juice from one fill of the press. However it takes time as you need to press and then leave the apples to do their thing. We tend to return to the press every hour or so and give it another turn
