Watch out traxxas
This thing is absolutely great handles great plenty of power equal match to the previous version of the gen 8. New system is super smooth duribility is outstanding I rolled it roughly 300 foot down a rocky hill thought it was toast lucky it landed on the wheels an I drove it right back up the hill with some minor scratches honestly couldn't believe it well worth the money you won't be disappointed only complaint is it does not come with a battery you have to buy them seperate an when you do buy more then one you'll thank yourself I buy 5 at a time an I'm never upset there's an app you download from hobbywing an that app slows you to adjust trim speed battery modes an more it's really cool am super easy to use well done redcat I'm satisfied once again all I've got to say is watch out traxxas this trx4 killers after you

AWSOME TRAIL TRUCK
The truck was as good as I had expected. It's an awesome crawler and trail truck, the brushless set up is really nice. I have no complaints about the truck. BUT I didn't think Amazon did a good job packing it. the box the truck came in was already open, the wire ties holding the truck in had been cut, so the truck was coming out of the inner box. The body was scratched and scuffed. There was no protective plastic on the body. Amazon just threw it all in their box, added some paper and taped it up. I didn't see where I can review Amazon on this one, but they only get one star.

I'm very impressed...
I know this trucks price is in TRX4 territory, but I purchased 2 other Gen8v2 trucks for my kids and wanted to keep my parts bin simplified. We have been doing trail walks frequently over the last few weeks and must have over 15 miles of driving on them, no significant damage or wear on any of them. We have been having so much fun with these trucks. These trucks drive for 2hrs on a 2s 5200mah battery. Both motor and speed control are just slightly warm to the touch after that much use.

Amazing
This is the first scale crawler I have had and I was happy to see that redcat has maintained the quality that I expect when I order a redcat rig. I am finding that the electrics are awesome but the one downside of this car is how the body is held on. Other than that it’s a great rig.

Replace the servo
I bought this truck thinking the electronics were set. I put in the added weight of the treal things and it helped immensely. However, the servo sucks! There are two trails I run. The one trail I will see this servo get stalled at least 4 or 5 times. This 100$ servo is trash. Replaced it with an MKS x5 and with the treal weight this truck is fantastic!

Steering Geometry still needs upgrades
Now that I have had this rig for a while I feel I can do a fair review.Pros.It’s very capable and the upgrades electronics alone are worth the price over the original.Simple locked differentials and Mod1 gears are nice. I picked this over the TRX4 thanks to simplicity. The steering servo is strong and responsive. The hobbywing app to link to the ESC is easy to use.ConsThe front steering geometry is bad and drive shafts being out of phase seems to make it worse. There’s not a noticeable bump steer anymore but no amount of trim will stop it from wanting to turn in reverse with the stock set up. I also had to set 50% trim to stop it from steering left on the stock set up.I fixed the issues by upgrading to steel drive shafts, relocating the servo with a new mount, and using new steering linkage. Which wasn’t very cheap. It’s not a deal breaker for me but I think it’s important to note that the platform still has issues out of the box.
