Great book on meditation
Practical meditation is one of the comprehensive and best book on meditation. It has information on what is meditation, how to set up a practice, different techniques of meditation, methods to deepen the practice etc. I recommend this for anyone looking for a good meditation guide book.

Practical Meditation it is!
This being the first book on meditation for me and I could not have stumbled upon a better one considering my preference for a introductory, secular, rational and most importantly comprehensive overview on Meditation. My compliments to the author for the brevity and lucidness in the writing- it was fun...finally thanx for the extensive bibliography.

Most practical helpful book to live a calm, centered and focused life
After reading Giovanni;s newsletters and teachings, I bought this book and I'm so happy to share that it is the best book on Meditation to practice Meditation and live a calm, centered and focused life. Highly Recommended!

Schön gestaltet und praktische Info!
Natürlich kann man sagen, dass sich Meditation besser durch eine Person angeleitet lernt, als theoretisch durch ein Buch, aber ich fand es sehr interessant, über die verschiedenen Arten der Meditation zu lesen und sie auch auszuprobieren. Und wenn man feststellt, dass es ungeleitet nicht gut geht, kann man so einfacher nach der passenden Art von Meditation suchen, die man möchte.

quick delivery, great author, great book
I bought the book as I was following a meditation course with Giovanni Dienstmann, the book author. He is a very prepared, patient and involved teacher - always ready and encouraging the learner to give his feedback and to take part in discussions with him and within the online peer-support community.You can follow one of his online courses, just search his name online. On his courses, he will guide you on a daily step by step introduction to different types of meditation, (allowing each new meditation type at least a week to get to 'know' deeply enough). By the end of it all, you will probably have found the one for you. Giovanni can start at the very basics, if you are new to the subject and not expect you to do more than 2 minutes on the first day, and an extra minute if you feel ready for it the next day till a maximum of 20+ min/day. There are also zoom meetings on different subject about twice a month, where again you can, if you want, take part in the discussion and suggest further topics.You can also try some of his guided meditations and listen to many of his lessons free on YouTube.This book is again an easy to read and to follow guide to meditation. It is not a thickly written book, but it is full of pictures and 'diagrams' to help you understand and retain concept better, particularly if you are like me a visual learner (most people are so).G. Dienstmann wants to reach as many people as possible with his teaching, which have brought and are still bringing deep changes to his life for the past 30 years. I know he is a genuine persons for many other reasons, but this is not the forum for talking about this.Meditation is not just done sitting down!

Outstanding
To say that this “simple step-by-step guide” contains everything you need to know about how to establish and maintain a meditation practice and what benefits you can expect to accrue would be perfectly true but it would do this book an injustice.The author has made it his business to master all known meditative practices (at least 30 of them, at any rate) and he explains them all simply and clearly so that you can experiment with any or all of the different traditions and find the practices which which are most useful to you personally.In my own case, I had been meditating for 4 years (mindfulness of breathing) and I had arrived at point where I felt the need to supplement my practices with other physical and mental exercises but I was unsure about how to proceed. So I found that this book met my needs perfectly. I imagine that even very advanced practitioners could benefit in the same way.I recommend getting a hard copy of this book rather than the kindle edition. The hard copy edition is in a large format which is beautifully designed and illustrated and it is ideally suited for use a reference text.

A book that is handy and more like a "textbook" to me...
I was waiting eagerly for this book to arrive. I came across the author, Giovanni Dienstmann when I was searching for some information on meditation techniques via the internet. From then, I was always reading his articles, etc.Just like quite a number of people might say, I wish there was such a book when I was embarking on my own meditation journey during my teenage years...This book basically covers the most well-known techniques. The most important thing for me is that every single "famous" system or technique is in one book - it is more like a textbook or reference book. It is simple to understand, short and straight to the point. The colours add to the vibrant of the book too. Not too wordy and too plain either - to me, it is in balance - just like what I wanted.I purchased this book for my family members too. Just as I am benefitting, I am 100% sure my family members will benefit from this book and strengthen their daily meditation and/or contemplation practices.Furthermore, I like the list of the resources at the end of the book...it makes it easier for me to refer or to go deeper on some authors or systems should I wish to.Thank you to all those who made this book possible and also to Amazon for sending it to me in Singapore!

Un manuel pratique et chaleureux
Abonnée au blog de ce professeur de méditation, son livre le complète bien. Il permet de se familiariser avec les différentes techniques et de choisir celles ou celle qui nous convient.C'est un guide très pratique, le style est encourageant et bienveillant. Lire est déjà bénéfique.
