Way better than Goddox SL 60w or Aperture 120D
I’ve hired grips who have brought the Aperture 120D on set which works well and is built well. But it’s like most other LED video lights, it has a massive ballast and a massive controller. All of these need to be connected via cables which makes the light kit giant, not at all portable and a huge pain to set up. For someone who is constantly flying to shoots, the ability to fit gear into cases is huge. I own the Goddox SLB 60w which is very similar to the aperture light but MUCH more portable and faster to setup with its battery and no ballast/controller setup required but has one major flaw. It’s fans are so loud the light is unusable with any amount of dialogue in a scene. Which is why you’ll find people on YouTube posting videos of them installing upgraded quiet fans in them. This GVM light is slightly brighter than the Goddox, whisper quiet, so quiet you have to strain to hear it with your ear right next to it, much smaller, lighter, slightly more color accurate, cheaper, doesn’t require a huge ballast and external controller, and therefore better in nearly every measurable way. The only downside is it doesn’t have a display on the side with brightness info. It’s got a really basic knob. The plus side of the knob is you can get your brightness output really fast, the downside is it’s harder to replicate luminance values from it if you turn it off because the dimmer control is the way you turn it off. I plan on selling my other 5 LED lights to replace them with a few more of these. They’re massively impressive.

Low Cost....High Quality Light!
I am a professional photographer and cinematographer and I needed a small, lightweight, high CRI, and extremely portable light; with the intention of building a kit.I bought the GVM to test it out. And I have been extremely happy with it from the moment I unboxed it.This GVM light is an outstanding value for money. High and extremely color accurate CRI is a huge advantage and a great starting point. At 80watts, it’s not a super bright light but is a fantastic supplemental light and I plan to get a few more. The Bowens mount allows me the flexibility of mounting and unmounting my large collection of light shaping reflectors, soft boxes, and grids quickly and easily. While the fan is very quiet it’s still faintly audible but can be filtered out of the audio in post. The light runs cool (compared to tungsten lights) and is EXTREMELY compact and light weight And you can pack the light within seconds of turning it off; a specific dream for shooting on the go!

Decent light, but it has two flaws
The light from this GVM 80W continuous LED light is good, and I like the simplicity of the design (plug it right into the wall, no bulky controller units or cables), but it has a couple of notable flaws.1) It's loud. Maybe it's just the model I received, but I don't understand other people's reviews here claiming it's "whisper quiet" compared to the Godox Sl-60W. I own the SL-60W, and its fan is quieter than the GVM light. My microphone has no trouble at all picking up the GVM fan.2) On/off and brightness is one knob. This means you have to turn brightness all the way to 0 to turn it off. This means you can't keep your level settings when turning it off, which is a pain. I had to take a photo of the back of the light to remember where to dial it back to after turning it off.

Great daylight balanced light. Very quiet.
Very good light for the money. Has very bright COB light with good spread and color. Lots of accessories to used since it has a Bowen’s mount which is a plus. I use it with strip boxes, octaboxes, and umbrellas. It works great. Smooth knob for power adjustments. It has a fan for cooling but I have run it for about 2 hours at a time and can never really here it in my environment. Could be different in a very sound proof environment, but most of us don’t have that, especially if on location. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great light for the money.

Worth the Price, Shipping Caution
The light is a good deal, especially for beginners or someone needing a low-cost add-on. The fan is decently quiet and doesn't seem to get louder as the brightness intensifies. It mounts nicely on typical stands and the Bowens mount is a great feature. I added the Aputure Light Dome Mini II and it fits nicely (try ordering directly from Aputure if Amazon and B&H are in back-order). My only gripe is that this shipped without the main box flap even being taped shut. Anything could have *easily* spilled out and I'm grateful it was handled with care. Pay the little extra to ship in another box if offered at checkout.

light doesn't turn on after less than 10 uses
I bought this light a year ago but only used it less than 10 times. It doesn't work anymore. I have tried contacting them, they offered me 10% off to buy it again. Why would I buy the same product with only a 10% off discount, when it'll break again after a handful of uses? The dial still turns but no light emits.Terrible customer service too.

Worth The Buck-Bang
For about 100 dollars this is worth the money. The box arrived as I took COVID-19 precautions. Everything is lightweight and assembly is child-simple. The brightness is adequate if you have other light sources. The gels clamp on nicely as well. I am content with this product. The fan is barely audible with no overheating.

Super bright little light
I am using this in place of an LED panel that I had shining through an umbrella. This light was as bright as the LED panel when dialed in at 20%. At full brightness it blew my small panel away. I have an Aputure 120d besides, but this light was much less expensive. My only complaint is that the fan is a bit louder than I wish, but behind the umbrella it probably won't be audible.
