Surprisingly strong build & easy to take apart
I bought the Samsung Tab A7 after cracking my 2nd tablet and this time wanted a good sturdy case in case I drop it again. I have arthritis so I will speak to that experience. Anyway there were cheaper "look alike" tablet case products but this being on sale for a little more money made me feel more at ease, so I hope this is the genuine seller.Anyway, when I received it, my initial impression was "it looks somewhat cheap." There are 2 face-plate covers, 1 with nothing and 1 with a plastic screen protector. That plastic screen protector is very flimsy and comes with a blue film- this DOES come off easily! If yours does not, please contact seller. I figured I would try with both the screen protector and non screen protector since I didn't think I'd need the plastic. The initial assembly can be daunting but the seller has great videos on it. I watched when I ordered but when it arrived and the tablet was ready to use, I decided to wing it based on the picture instructions included. That's on me, but even the instruction manual is serviceable. My initial impression was the case seemed cheap but it should work, right? It works beautifully. The design really impresses me. The tablet is very snug and sturdy. The hand grip is made of a leather material, it's a bit big for my hand but it is easy and adjustable. My favorite feature, what I ordered it for, has a nice shoulder strap with material similar to a seat belt. I am a small person though and the length of this shoulder-belt is small even for me. The strap is fixed to the tablet case through loops (mine came pre-installed, very appreciated!) connected to plastic clasp fasteners. You can totally switch out a longer or more comfortable strap potentially, but the plastic clasp fastener is very tight. Just clicking the belt buckle in was the hardest thing in the initial install process for me due to arthritis in my hands. It might be easier to open and close after the first time, but since I prefer to use the strap whenever I use my case, I probably will not be messing with it further. Now for the tablet case itself- it really seems to function in 3 parts. It lays in a hard plastic tray that fits perfectly snug. If you have already damaged your tablet, such as a bent corner, it may not fit. It fits so snug sometimes that I have to turn it upside down on a soft surface to pop the tablet out. So the tablet lays in this tray and on all sides are made with a colorful (if you choose color) silicone-type molding. This molding has cut outs which interlock with design features of the plastic tray, it also has your power and volume buttons. Once the tablet is in the tray, you pull and stretch this silicone over the cut outs of the tray so they all line up. This can't be messed up too easily, though you may end up pressing your power or volume buttons while doing this. I find this is very easy to do now that I am familiar, it is not hard for my hands. If you have very weak grip strength or child hands, it may be more difficult for you.Once the silicone molding "bumper" sides are on, it's almost done. Last is laying the plastic face on- with or without that screen protector plastic shield, remember as you receive 2. They are identical in form. You CAN try to install this backwards so make sure to line up your camera lens to the hole before trying to click it in place. Lay it on top of the silicone where it all lines up and gently press on the corners of each until you hear a satisfying snap. And... surprise, I find the plastic screen protector sheet in the plastic face to be very serviceable! I have not noticed any pressure sensitivity issues. I imagine they went this way instead of glass because of how heavy the case is already. The case is clunky, big enough that some apps which require a lot of alternating thumb movements may be hindered, but it's all in the name of protection. I play those apps when I'm home, so I just take the case off then. I find the coloration is pretty close but not 100% identical to the photos. One reason I believe this is the authentic seller is other product previews show the color very differently- the "camo" pattern should be close to this seller's photos with just the hue of the color being slightly more grey in person. The case opens in the exact reverse order of the instructions I listed above, but I find it easiest to pinch and pull the silicone siding away first for some of the sides, this way it is easier to undo the plastic face. Nothing is truly "child proof" but this seems pretty durable and with enough install steps that I believe it could help protect the tablet from most children. I have read a review about it being waterproof, and while I am not going to test it, it is secure enough that I would believe it can handle that. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product and would 100% recommend it to anyone buying that brand of tablet. I hope the manufacturer makes more of this kind of design for other brands of tablets too.
