I bought these brushes for buttering corn and for dusting pastry or brushing on egg wash. The are 8" long and either 1" or 1.5" wide. I immediately washed one pair by hand and placed the other pair in the dishwasher. The handwashed brushes did shed a few bristles, but were otherwise o.k. The one's washed in the dishwasher seemed a little more worse for the wear - the bristles were splayed out after washing. They smoothed out, but clearly this would not be good long term. So I'll stick with handwashing for now.Since I've been using them, I've seen an occasional lost bristle, but nothing terrible. The bristles themselves are soft and dense, so they hold a nice amount of butter or egg wash without dripping. They also have a light touch, so I'm able to brush delicate pastry without damaging. It's also nice having a pair of each brush for days when I'm doing lots of baking, or when I want to use more than one type of wash.

I ordered these brushes to clean my grain mill, they work better then a silicone brush

These work so much better than silicone. Butter brushes smoothly over biscuits which is why I bought them. Love the 4 pack with the different sizes.

I use pastry brushes for, well, pastry. While these work fine, I’ve found they shed a bristle or two on my food that I don’t discover until later. Embarrassing when you’re serving guests. So, cheaply made or they wouldn’t lose bristles. Disappointed.

I use these for brushing butter or other things on gluten free baked goods. I look for a brush that won’t squish my goods or leave bristles in them. So far, these are holding up nicely. I’ve used them for dinner rolls, cheddar biscuits, and brushing a glaze on gluten free donuts. I’ve also used them for barbecue sauce on chicken. No bristles.

I love this set because I now have a brush for my phylo dough and another for basting my meats. I’m always fearful of cross contamination and now I have no worries. My poor overworked brush of the past was being used too much and was loosing bristles because I was too over zealous trying to clean it. Now I can be thorough w/o over doing it to ruin my brush.
