Norestar Double Braided Nylon Anchor Rope/Line with Thimble, Boat Rode

Very nice quality. My only complaint is the coil arrives bound very tightly by twine and not on a spool. When I cut the twine the coil basically sprung open on the deck in a tangled mess. It took me over a half hour to untangle it. Once I did, I had to flake it out to remove all of the tight twists. The line is soft and does not have much memory and I am now very pleased with the final product.

This is a great rope. We used it as a tie off rope on a house boat to tie it to something on the shore. We received many compliments from other houseboat owners on how nice of a rope it is. The color matches out boat. We did cut the rope in half so we could have two 150 feet lines. A little hint if you cut it and burn the ends: use two rubber bands to hold the ends together immediately after cutting them so it doesn't fray so badly. or use two ribbons to tie around the rope before you cut. Burning the ends took a while, but it worked. Also, don't pull the rope down the wooden dock to lay it all out in one line. It will get splinters. We used the top of the boat to lay it out. We had to go down and back about 7 times, but we were able to find a half way point to cut it.

I found the rope to be a good value for my needs.The company says that it is rated for 9000 lbs, so it is more than adequate for my needs.The rope may not be the highest quality, but than you must face the fact that you get what you pay for.Samson charges 3 or 4 times the price of Norestar.I found the rope to be true to size, but I haven't used it yet, I don't know what it will look like once stretched.The rope does look like it will fray from abrasive situations.The fibers look very fine and that means if they get snagged on anything, they are going to fray.So, once again, it's a good rope for the money, 9000lb rating is pretty good for most uses. .

So I used this for a completely different, unorthodox means of what it was intended for. I wanted a cheap way to build a rope bridge for the pirate ship I was building my sons. This fit the bill fantastically. I was happy as heck too that when you cut the ends they burn perfectly and together. It was almost like it was engineered to solidify if the ends are burned together. I attached a picture of the rope bridge I made.

The rope looks very nice, but I don't think it is quite 5/8 inch. Do your own research, but what I've seen suggests it is not as strong as say Samson 5/8 rope. It is strong enough for my purposes and the price was right. My intent was and is to cut the rope into shorter lengths...I don't need an anchor line. I bought some fids to help splice eyes into the rope ends. After much effort trying to splice, I cannot bury the core through point at which the line doubles up (point X to point Z in the Samson splicing instructions). I cannot push an undersized fid for 1/2 rope into the double-up section. I have no idea how the manufacture put their eye into the line. Must have had some machinery to force stretch the outer cover open. I've given up on doing any splicing with this line and will just use knots.

Returned this item to Amazon, the chart provided incorrect information causing me to purchase this. Will be buying a different diameter anchor rope from Amazon when I know for sure which one is compatible with my windless anchor.

Superbly made line. One of those times that you just feel the quality as you unroll it. It cuts beautifully and seals off well with a torch. It ties easily and behaves like a world class woven line. Now that may not seem like such a big thing, but go out and buy some cheap inferior line and you will curse it frequently. The delivery was quick. The product superb.
