Really nice image and build quality
I have at least a dozen binoculars that I use for bird watching and astronomy. I have to say that these are really nice for the price. Crisp clear images and clean to the edges. Comfortable to use.For birders the close focus is about 7 feet which is very good.Good crisp images for astronomy. I think I prefer 10X50 for astronomy for more light gathering but naturally, that would be heavier. Note that there is a place for a tripod adapter so you can mount these.Overall I like them.

Finally, my first pair of binoculars in a long time...
It's been years since I've owned a decent pair of binoculars, so I have nothing modern to compare them to. But, these binoculars are certainly well-built and have a good solid feel in my hands. I also like the lens caps that cover both ends and are designed for quick removal. The view through them is very good and they also fit my $ budget. I like them, and I'm glad I finally have a decent pair of binoculars.

ED glass in name only--performance does not match.
The image is relatively clear and bright but the bin is dificult to adjust properly so I cannot recommend!

Punches above its weight class
Sold a pair of Endeavor ED to pay for these with plenty of $ left over. The optics on these are as good as the Endeavors, but the two lenses are able to adjust much closer together to accommodate my (apparently) narrow set eyes. My young son can use them too, which is great!

Great value you won't find anywhere else
Wow! I don't know if this is a permanent price drop or not but I have no problem recommending this binocular after using mine for almost two years. I have tried a $20 binocular and a $30 binocular sold here on Amazon and this Eight Owls is a steal at $44. I returned those other two because the focus knob fell apart within days of use. The construction of the Eight Owls feels more impressive than the formers and looks great. The focus knob helicoid is made of aluminum instead of plastic which will greatly aid in durability. The lenses are multicoated with a green tint. The cheaper binoculars are missing this. The 6.5° viewing angle is fantastic. The almost 18mm eye relief is a welcome as I wear eyeglasses. I thought 10x magnification would be problematic with handholding since I'm used to my other binoculars being 8x, but I have no problems with it at all. The $30 binocular I returned was advertised as 12x but it was really an 8x and the image was soft. This one is a true 10x. Ergonomically well thought-out. The strap loop on the sides are low profile and curved so they don't stick out and jab at your hands when holding. I give it four stars as I don't feel this uses ED glass or shows any obvious sign that it does use it. I think it's a marketing ploy like when other companies say they use HD lenses. Whatever that means. Despite that the view is still a pleasure both day and night and you won't find anything better at $44.

Essential Doppleganger?
This is essentially the Vanguard Endeavor ED 8420 in cosmetic disguise. Same characteristics, performance and specs and sadly, the same sticky stiff focus wheel. Happily, the Endeavors weak eyepiece may have been strengthened a bit, along with some other welcomed refinements. The 8 Owls version is more robust and noticeably heavier, apx. (26oz vs 32oz). This additional weight serves to dampen the micro shaking inherent above 7x, thereby improving the perceived image, but with an obvious fatigue tradeoff. Overall, at present, this is probably the best binocular value on Amazon.

Great value!
Solid aluminum frame, smooth controls, great sharpness and clarity. Only possible negative is very minor color fringing at the extreme edge of the field. Took them out at night a couple of times and was really impressed, stars are white sharp pins of light so no astigmatism or false color noticed when in sharp focus....a little harder to focus precisely with no tripod and nothing to lean against. Jupiter was pretty impressive with it's moons showing as little sharp pins. Last summer I got to try out several really expensive binoculars at a shop in Mendocino Ca. and I'd say these are about 90% of those at less than 10% of the price.
