THE 'NESSA OF PRINTERS ~ BIG, NOISY AND FABULOUS
Bought one to supliment my photo printer for general use in the office; and, yes, it's big; yes it's noisy; yes it's ugly; but my God it's good! May not be the cheapest laser to run, but the results are spectacular. Not on par with an A3+ photo printer, but that's not what I expected. But what I didn't expect was the amazing quality of the prints coming out of the top. I now create my own headed paper and save money on printing. I also use it for mock-ups and proofs of magazine articles and promotional stuff. If you are looking for a very, very good quality laser, and you don't want to break the bank, then get one of these. Just don't expect it to look terribly attractive or for it to be quiet. One word of warning though. My wife uses one in her classroom and in the school office, and they have had issues with the photo conducter unit. This is EXPENSIVE to replace. In fact, it's just as cheap to buy a new printer. The only problem here is the environmental impact of a new printer. Just be aware that it can cause problems. Mine has been fine so far, but I thought you should know. One final cheerful word though. It come supplied with FULL toner cartridges. Not the half-full ones that most printers come with.

BIG, NOISY AND FANTASTIC
Yes it's BIG, yes it's noisy and, yes, it's ugly. But my God the results more than make up for it. Bought it as it was cheaper to buy this and a couple of reams of decent recyled laid paper to produce letter heads than to buy some from a high street printer. The quality is superb. Yes the consumables are expensive, but they are for any printer, truth be told ~ it's where they make their money! So far NO problems at all. Loads of toner left. I can't see when I will need to replace the cartridges. My wife has one of these in her classroom, and uses it every day for producing displays, reports and all other stuff produced in a reception class to make it bright and welcoming. Her toner is still the original 'shipped' toner after 6 months.Don't delay. If you want a colour laser, buy it now. Just remember to take some weight lifting lessons first.

Big, noisy, fiddly to set up, but great results
While the printer takes up a much bigger footprint than the inkjet it replaced, and yes it did take longer to setup than I expected, and yes it is noisier than the inkjet. However, the print quality is very, very good and the print speed is fast enough for my business. I cannot comment on costs as I haven't had the printer very long, but I am very happy with the results so far. Purchased from Pixmania so the usual delay in delivery, cannot understand why everyone cannot be as fast as Amazon. Just like to add that this printer packed up 3 weeks after the warranty expired and Epson helpline was less than helpful

Epson Aculaser C1100
This is a replacement of the same model which worked well for 5 years. In the end it developed an 'error B door open' and the door was not open. I had to buy the same model because I had spent nearly £200 on tonners.Once this printer has developed, customer service of Epson is not very helpful, they suggested to buy a new one rather than rpairing the old. What a wastful of resources.

A great printer
This printer does everything I want of it and more. Text and graphics are crisp and clear, and even on plain paper (80gsm) the quality of both colour and b & w photographs is exceptionally good. This is important to me as I use the printer to print out page proofs of books; in fact the quality is so good, and the colour rendering so accurate, that I can use the page proofs to gauge whether photos need any adjustments. The printer is cheap to run, too; the black toner cartridge lasted for over 1000 pages after the low toner warning appeared, and right up until the toner finally ran out the print quality never deteriorated. There is only one thing I would quibble about, and that concerns the instructions rather than the printer itself: you are told to insert the toner cartridges in a certain order, but the cartridge bay presented is not the correct one. It took a bit of ingenuity to work out how to get the correct one lined up, as Epson's instructions don't mention this! (instructions re this problem are buried away on Epson's website, and are not easy to find). That apart, I am extremely happy with this printer and would recommend it to anyone.

Great result, but reliability issues
I've had this for over 2 years now, the print quality is top notch. Better than a £600 Dell colour laser that the office has. Can print quite decent photos, about magazine quality not quite up to inkjet quality. The toner lasts for ages, but do cost a fortune to replace. There is an inherent design problem with the toner fuser unit or drum or whatever it is, you start getting patches of smudged toner along the page once the printer gets past a certain point and it costs about £200 to replace that fuser unit. There's a lot of users out there with the same issues, some reports some DIY surgery on the fuser unit fixes it, but I couldn't figure out how.I would have given this a 5 star at the time I bought it, but with cheaper printers on the market now and the fuser unit problem I have dropped it to 3 stars as of 2009.

Not recomended
I agree with other reviewers. I bought this for print quality, price and convenience of laser (not having to keep replacing the cartidges). However, eventually all cartridges need replacing. I have struggled to do this once, but now that the black has run out again I am taking it to my local WEEE recycling point! I have never met with such a user unfriendly method of getting the ink cartridges in and out. The toner invariably goes everywhere, and this time I just cannot get the cartridge out at all.I really would not buy this model again and could not reccomend it. My advice would be to check very carefully how the print cartridges go in and out before buying a laser printer. For example, the HP ones that I have seen/used have a very simple mess free mechanism. I did not choose one of these at the time as I worked out the ink print costs would be cheaper with the Epson, and I did not realise the design fault, but it is just not worth the hassle. What a mistake!
