DO NOT STOP READING AT THE 1/4 WAY POINT
I‘d heard Cyntoia’s story on news outlets but honestly didn’t know what to expect in this book. Some reviews mention they stopped reading a few chapters in. I shared the initial “wait, what?” reaction a 1/4 way through the book. I kept thinking that it sounded like Cyntoia was blaming her teachers for picking on her, her classmates for calling her names, her dad, the world, anyone and everyone for her problems. Then as you read further, the gifted and authentic storyteller that Cyntoia is, **SHINES THROUGH**. And you “get it”. She is writing a first person narrative from the POV of Cyntoia at the age she was when the events happen. Sometimes short sighted at an age appropriate level. Don’t stop reading!!!By the end of this incredible, thought provoking story, you hear the accountable voice of a woman who has been touched by the hand of God. You can SEE ON THE PAPER the moment she accepts Jesus as her Lord and savior, and the shift that happens. You SEE ON THE PAPER the accountability of her actions. She serves a merciful God who shows her (and me) that she can never stray too far from her Father’s grace. This book restored my faith in rehabilitation. It riled up the Holy Spirit to show me there’s a way for all of us. And that way is through Jesus Christ.Thank you for writing this book. I’ve loaned it to a coworker and bought a copy for my grandma in Tennessee. Your testimony reawakens my desire to live a life of excellence and reminds me that I too, have not strayed too far from my Heavenly Father’s grace. I feel blessed to have read your journey.

Incredible
This book will strengthen your faith, restore your faith or start having faith in God! A story that could have a million endings, but the actual ending reminds you that God is good all the time.

You will not regret it- Buy this!
Perfectly written - a terribly sad but also redemptive story of a girl caught up in the wrong life and put behind bars for something she shouldn't have been. Loved reading this. Her life is one many of us will never know. She gives a window into her life before and during prison time. Captivating!!!!! Seriously- BUY THIS!

Thank God Cyntoia is Free!!!
I am in awe after reading this memoir. I admire the courage and faith she has to tell her whole story in hopes of changing the lives of other young people who may be heading down the wrong path. This is definitely a HEAVY read, but it's an honest one that needed to be told.

Disappointed
I regret to admit the more I read the book, the less I want to continue.I unapologetically rooted for her release from prison, not knowing much about her history beyond the tear-jerker story that was told of her conviction. Now that i'm reading her book I'm having a hard time maintaining sympathy, as she consciously made one bad decision after another. There are far too many women, myself included, who came from traumatic early beginnings, and didn't have HALF the comfortable life she had provided by her adoptive parents, and yet, we knew better to exercise common sense and use good judgement, and became positive members of society. So no, I don't feel sorry for Cyntoia; I do, however, feel sorry for her adoptive parents. They're the ones who deserve the real sympathy. At any rate, I do applaud her for turning her life around. Prison turned out to be her blessing.

A Story of Hope for the Hopeless
A must have on your book shelf, Free Cyntoia is based on her true life story. I couldn't put the book down and finished it within days of purchase. It moves you to compassion and stirs up lots of different feelings when you read about how this beautiful intelligent young get groomed, raped, abused, drugged, shamed, trafficked, imprisoned for a long time but the grace of God rescues, saves, cleanses, blesses her a husband and set her FREE from the impossible... life in prison.

Average read
After watching the documentary I decided to read the book. However it was a bit hit and miss in places. The time line got a little confusing and some bits were a bit tedious as the author tended to over explain. I feel it is more like a self help book towards the end especially. However it wasn't bad, just average.
