Very easy to use, simple cleanup and perfect sized sample.

Good quality. Metal has some flex but handles tough soil with ease. I was able to retrieve multiple soil samples quickly to check lawn root depth.A bit shorter than expected, however it didn’t present an issue functionally. Tapered end helps it cut into harder dirt.Easy to use, good chrome finish resists corrosion. This tool looks like it will last a long time with my intermittent usage.

Others said same thing, it is hard to remove core sample. I ended up cutting the end off leaving 1/4" from end to sidewall cutout then reground a sharp edge. Doing the modification made a world of difference. The construction provides adequate use however from my 46+ years in machining and manufacturing, this is not a $38.00 item. We would have needed to manufacture this for $2.00 including material. So you can do the math. Not unusual for retail to be 10X so I would expect this to sell for $29.00 maximum.

This breaks through Georgia clay like a champ. Takes great chores for test samples, and looks as if it is built to last.

It is made of stainless steel. The handle wasn't welded very well to the probe and is not a "T". Also, the end of the probe was bent in in several places. I straightened it out and the got a soil sample from some clay like soil. When twisting theprobe back and forth to dig into the ground the sample section started to bend. I have taken 2 samples, and I think it's about at the end of it's working life.
