The complete guide to Hebrew verbs
Hebrew verbs, and all their variations, are the core of the language. There are many sources of information about a limited subset of Hebrew verbs. But even a book with 500 verbs barely scratches the surface. This book is the definitive source of the information. The authors of this book have taken the considerable effort to maps all the verbs in the Hebrew language into approximately 200 classes. A model verb for each class is listed in one of the book's tables. Use the indexes to find which class a verb belongs to, and you have the information you need. It's also intereting to compare the conjugations in one class to those in another. The book is able to condense all this information into a reference much thinner than books which cover fewer verbs. There is an English-Hebrew and a Hebrew-English dictionary to assist. The English-Hebrew dictionary could benefit from a few more entries, but for the most part it suffices. The use of the tables may be awkward to a new user, but if you take the trouble to learn how to use the book (takes less than a half hour) you will reap years of benefit from doing so.

Excellent condition and prompt delivery!
My 1978 version is falling apart so I ordered this updated, extended version by the same authors. I'm really impressed with the book itself, its condition as well as the prompt delivery. This book is a must have for anyone who wants to learn Hebrew.

Finally I found the sequel to my first Verb Tables
Hebrew Verb Tables When I started Hebrew lessons long ago, we were told to use the older Hebrew Verb Tables, by the same author, and I grew to love it and be totally dependent on it. However, after all that usage it started to fall apart. Besides, I came into a new class, and they too wanted a verb book like that. I went through 201 Hebrew Verbs (OK, but not as easy) and now finally also 501 Hebrew Verbs (very thorough, but far too lumpy to easy take with you, and then I found the next edition of these Hebrew Verb tables. I immediately bought the book and it is even better than the first, including now also a reverse look-up for the verbs, from English to Hebrew. And that was actually the only thing I really missed in the older edition. I am completely happy again!!

Exceptionally useful little book
After you've dipped into past and future tenses, and about the time you get frustrated at having your pronunciation corrected a dozen different ways after you were told 'These verbs are all in the same group and are conjugated the same' -- you are ready for this little book, and you will treasure it. I still refer to Bolozky's '501 Hebrew Verbs' for a range of things -- gerunds, imperatives, semantic variations in usage, etc, and couldn't do without it -- but part of the success of Tarmon is it's size and portability, where Bolozky fails -- you can't have everything. It gives 265 tables, and in each table, all the major modern Hebrew verbs that are absolutely identical in pronounced conjugation, whether that's only one other verb, or a hundred. If you have memorized Liktov, then there are dozens and dozens of verb roots that will line up perfectly through all the tenses on Chart 1. If you know Ledaber inside out, then Chart 91 shows you hundreds of verbs that conjugate exactly the same in all respects. It is easy enough to use for the purpose for an advanced beginner, once you've figured it out, but the size does rule out some user-friendly frills.

wonderful book for in depth analysis of hebrew verbs
This has both an english and hebrew table of contents. The sections are divided by the 7 verb categories and has an exhaustive list, if not a complete list of hebrew verbs. The only draw back is that the book is much cheaper if purchased in Israel. In Israel can also get different versions, such as russian/hebrew, spanish/hebrew. french/hebrew. I highly recommend this book.

I really like this book.
Got this book a few days ago and I absolutely love it. I use this book as a take with me reference to find and practice verbs that I am not too familiar with. I also have 501 Hebrew Verbs which will always be my desktop grand daddy of reference but this is small and concise for those with a familiarity of the language to take it with them at all times..It takes a little getting use to looking up the verb in a table that has the verb form you are looking for, but, as I have said if you already have a familiarity of the language and need a to be sure of the correct form, this book is for you.

some explanationw would help...
I am thoroughly frustrated with this book. It would have sufficed to include just a few pages in the beginning, explaining the layout of the charts. Likewise, it would be nice to have a translation of the verbs on their actual conjugation pages. The only thing the editors chose to translate on the verb charts was "Past, Present, and Future." The abbreviations (e.g., "intr") are not elaborated upon anywhere. When you look up a verb in the index, it gives you what I'm assuming to be the root of the verb, yet there are certain Hebrew verbs that have 20 different English translations, and it is very unclear which one is which. It's frustrating to have to spend my time figuring out this book instead of investing it in studying the language...

As a beginning Hebrew learner, I found the book a very helpful resource in translating from English to Hebrew. I especially appreciated being given the prepositions that go with verbs.
