Mandragora Overdrive Player Favorite Fast, Fast U.S. Ship Your Tone City Connection!

mandragora is another name for the evil cupie doll looking mandrake root. i believe its in the nightshade family.this pedal is supposedly based on the lovepedal Kalamazoo. but i'm not familiar with that pedal yet as i wasnt around for the famous saturday night special sales. also, the mandragora is the basis for the tone city durple pedal which is apparently the signature pedal of some guy that works at a guitar center in europe. the durple has a mids knob which is something i think pedal companies are totally dropping the ball on. they should release every pedal they can with a mids knob because guitarists love to sculpt their mids from cuts to mid forward its the mids or lack of mids that so often is the defining characteristic of pedals like the tubescreamer all the way to seperating blackfaces and dumbles.instead of the mids control the mandragora has a presence control which is a little more complicated an idea than just mids but the mids are heavily involved in any presence control and this one is no different. i like to roll a presence all the way down and see what you have and then start rolling it up. the presence knob saved the vox channel on my 3rd power british dream from being too dark to be useful. on my bassman i sometimes set the middle and presence all the way up and the treble and bass at 0. if you have a bassman just try it. its interesting and more usable than you might think.with the mandragora though a little goes a long way but the presence knob is the selling point (that and the low price). it works with my vox channel and not every od does maybe because of the "pre" knob (i usually set it higher with that amp). otherwise its your standard light to med od. its not my favorite tone city od (that would be the nobleman) but its still solid, well constructed, and nothign to scoff at. ony my mini board i expect it to rotate out with one or two other drives that i dont consider foundational or absolutely needed.
