BD Magnifier Syringe Magni-Guide, 1 per Package 12-Count

Great Product makes reading syringe very easy

I have used and depended on the BD Magni-Guide syringe magnifier for many years - and I love it! Recently I started using the BD 1/2 unit syringe (BD NDC/HRI #: 08290-3249-10) which is also wonderful and I also love it! However, the new 1/2 unit syringe is too short to permit the use of the Magni-Guide :(I was able to cut off the Magni-Guide using a small hack saw and it now works perfectly for the shorter syringe! I had to do this because BD does not make a Magni-Guide for the 1/2 unit syringe nor do they have plans at present to manufacture one.

These work OK. I think they are much bulkier then necessary and do NOT grip the insulin bottles as firmly as I would like. Once snapped into this magnifier, the bottles do wobble a bit and can easily be popped out, thus risking a VERY expensive bottle of insulin. To be safe, I find myself holding the bottle onto the magnifier with a finger when inserting the needle into the bottle for drawing out insulin. This makes it a bit awkward to use. It is, however, less awkward then trying to do it with just the bottle and syringe alone. For me the magnifying aspect was less important than using it to guide the needle into the bottle. The bulkiness is the large physical size of the magnifier portion. It is really big and could probably have been made smaller. I previously had one that was smaller, but can't find them anywhere anymore. I guess this being much cheaper is also a compromise.
