Interesting...
I suppose I will start off by being honest...Spike is my favorite character. No other character in the Buffyverse has developed as much as he has (well Cordelia would be a close second). In these comics Spike is near the end of his transformation with most of them occurring in Angel Season 5 with the exceptions of Spike vs. Dracula (which happens over time)and Spike: old Times (which happens in Buffy Season 6 with Halfrek). Most of the comics within it contain flashbacks to his past. It always annoys me when the writers do not portray the characters in the right light or do not capture their personalities however these writers captured Spike's dry, sarcastic sense of humor which was nice especially when Spike and Angel would work together. My two favorite comics were Spike Asylum and Spike Shadow Puppets written by Brian Lynch who has a twisted sense of humor but adds new life into the stories and dialogue while introducing new characters. Any Spike fan would love to own this volume and to see William the Bloody continue his story.

Spike fans must have
Easy to write good comics when your character is so rich. I'm not a whole hearted fan of idw comics compared to the dark horse whedon stuff but i am a fan in respect to that they and and their writers have a love of spike and that they "get him". The first piece in the collection "old times" is my favorite as far as story and artwork. The other bits are fairly good in story as well like "asylum" and "shadow puppets"also word to the wise im not sure if this is a manufactuer problem or not but my pages fell out of the binding and i had to order a replacement and the one i have now seems to be just as likely to do the same but ive been super gentle with opening the book so just a heads up

I love Spike!
Really enjoyed the first couple of stories. Didnโt love asylum as much but I do enjoy this character.

very nice!
I have to say of all the characters, Spike to me was the most evolved. we watched him go from a villain to a hunky sweetheart and it was a lot of fun. reading this book was a better insight to his character, where he came from and what he eventually became. Some of the artistry was so dead on, it was amazing. While others were kinda cartoon networky and you can tell they may have been earlier sketches or just a really shoddy artist lol. but, i really did like this book and i'd recommend it to anyone. I'd also like very much to see a Drusilla and Spike omnibus or at least a few more stories of them and their past.

Great for the older Spike stories
This is a good book if you're a real Spike fan. I particularly liked the very old Spike stories, though it's a decent mix and a nice long book. Most of the art was really good, too.I did not pay retail for this which I think is too much, but if you can get a used copy or it goes on sale, I'd definitely recommend it.

Fun read
I've been going after the canon Buffyverse comic's and while most of the stories in this are noncanon two struck my intrest Spike: Asylum and Spike: Shadow Puppets as they were written by Brian Lynch who went on to write Angel: After the Fall which is canon and in which he used characters from the two putting them somewhat into canon and were why I got this. However I came to love the other stories in this with Spike: Old Times and Spike vs Dracula standing out as some of Spike at his best

Buy it if you're Buffy fan
For Buffy fan this is no-brainer. Most of the stories brings up the memories from original series and broaden their stories. There are also good plot twists. Some of the stories are sometimes slower or not so brilliant but if you're a Buffy fan, you want to read these anyway (for continuity).

Just loved Spike!
I just loved the television series and Spike became my favorite character, I really loved him. So when it ended I mourned and then looked for more. I'm not a graphic novel reader normally and I bought some books and didn't like them at all, but this one worked for me. Spike looked right, the plot lines were consistent with what had occurred previously and I could lose myself in it.

fantastic
BtvS is my favorite show, and I think James Marsters did an incredible job in it. I enjoyed this collection of Spike's adventures enormously.

Fangtastic value for money
This is a very large volume of Spike graphic novels, which is most notable for containing the two cult classics Asylum and Shadow Puppets - both of which are now considered official cannon episodes of the Angel universe - but also contains four other stories that link in to various characters and stories from the Buffy / Angel TV series. One of these four stories is in fact five stories in itself - all concerning Spike's various run ins with the hilariously self-important Wheedon take on Dracula. Not only do they fill in some of the missing time periods in Spike's long life, only glimpsed at before, but they are incredibly funny and Spike's distinctive dialogue and attitude are spot on - it's what makes him such an incredibly apt character for the transition to graphic novels. Asylum is where Spike really starts to hit his stride though, and it's no surprise you can't get the originals now for love nor money.

Bought as a gift - very well received
Bought as a gift for my boyfriend, he really enjoyed reading it. It's huge, I was expecting a thin graphic novel but it's a beast! Really nice quality print etc.
