What a strange family. Set in New Zealand, it starts out in one direction, and leaves in a much different direction. Near the beginning, there is a prison break, and the criminals wind up in a suburban home, where they terrorize the family. But the family are followers of Solomon Smith, a Maori leader who practices unique culinary tastes. The criminals are in for quite a surprise, and the movie gets rather zany, and also rather gory as things unfold. Or as stated later, “We’re not Maori cannibals. We are cannibals that happen to be Maori.” It is quite a comedy heavily on suggestions, but it actually becomes tamer than expected. Cannibalism is handled rather matter of fact, which adds an additional twist. However, I feel the ending was rather messed up, when the police surrounded and entered the home. They seemed to only send in two police, and then there was quite a time gap. That didn’t make sense. But that may be nitpicking.

Blood, violence, blood, violence, and family drama. The gore is tame. No nudity to speak of except a magazine page. Lots of lipstick lesbian build up.This was a fun cannibal romp. The overall story was summarized coming into it, and it delivered.If there were two elements really missing it would have to be real terror and the nudity. On the real terror end, this is far more of a comedy. There are plenty of deaths and dismemberments but the tone is far more casual ot dark comedy. The girls get about naked a few times and it is hinted that they get it on, but never shown.Anyhow, a far better watch than I was expecting. Lots of family drama humor blended into two very messed up situations. Oh, and racist cops as a small bonus.

This New Zealand movie (having lived there, I'm a bit biased) is fantastic! If you enjoy graphic, but not overly tense horror movies, this one is for you! There isn't a lot of suspense, but it's a great movie to kick back with friends and watch while having a few laughs and a cringe here and there.

Hilarious, action packed, lesbian romance of the century. I loved this movie. I'd give it 6 stars out of 5 if I could. Entertaining from beginning to end. Great twists throughout. Stay to the final scene as the ending can't be beat. The script is funny, the acting is spot on, the style is quick and sleek. If you don't end up thinking this movie is a good time it's something wrong with you, not the movie. Even though it's on prime I think I'll be buying this movie to add to my collection.

fun and cheesy. story is kind of messy but doesn't get stale. has some gore practical effects that are pretty good, the cgi not as much. i believe i have seen the movie before and is worth a rewatch for the absurdness and the cast is great.

A strange and interesting satirical dark comedy. I enjoyed the movie. It does contain gore, I mean Cannibals right. This movie was a lot more fun than I could image from the title. The production was good and I had no prolem with the acting. It had a fast paced and never lelt up.

Great premise. Great movie. If you like indie movies and horror movies, this is a must watch. Although it is not the mummy or vampire type of flick, it is very watchable. At no time did I feel like turning it off. This is a must watch.

Die story des Films ist absolut simpel. Die Dialoge sind langweilig und ausgelutscht, keineswegs humorvoll. Die Schauspieler sind schlecht und nicht nur deswegen zieht sich der Film nur so dahin. Das Bild der Bluray ist o. k., der Ton könnte besser sein, die Synchronisation zweitklassig. Alles in allem ein schwachsinniger Film, der mehr langweilt als unterhält.

Nun, an Filme wie Braindead kommt dieser ebenfalls aus Neuseeland stammende Funsplatter nicht heran. Aber einige Einfälle und Effekte sind ganz nett. Einer der besseren "Kopien" der Neuzeit!
