Effective bar I've used for years
I have used these bars since I was a kid. My parents would buy them to use when fixing things around the house that ended up a bit greasy or grimy. For me, however, my parents always told me to use the green bar of soap (the Lava bar) if the dirt and such from playing outside was too hard to get off with the usual liquid soap or simple bar soaps. Not knowing really what pumice was when fairly young, it was a little weird to have mildly abrasive soap. However, having had a variety of things on my hands over the years, this soap does a great job of lifting and scrubbing stuff off of you without stripping you of your skin's moisture. Of course dish soap is great at removing oil and such, but not just the one you added to your hand. The bars leave a nice scent and keep your hands from cracking over repeated use. Now, it is not my main soap for daily use, but I keep one in the kitchen for when I need to get tougher grime off my hands and I am glad to have it. I am sure my parents are still using it today.

works great and one bar lasts a really long time
I use this stuff every day, works great and one bar lasts a really long time, much longer than any other soap I have used. Some of the other reviews have questioned the "new & improved" formula and speculated that it's not as good as it used to be. Well I'm here to say that the only thing new and improved is the wrapper, this soap feels, looks, smells and works just like it has for decades. It's getting harder to find this stuff, I used to be able to pick it up in grocery stores, auto parts stores, pretty much anyplace that sold soap. Now I'm having a much harder time finding it, too many other over priced foo foo products crowding it off the shelves. In years past I never would have bought something like soap from Amazon. Now I do.EDIT: I bought this over 2 years ago, use it daily and I'm still working on the first bar. Some recent reviewers are saying they only got 1 bar or they got the green packaging with added moisturizers. All I can say is I got 2 bars in the red packaging in Jan 2017.

Better value than liquid pumice soap.
Great at getting greasy hands clean. I use for getting glue and paint off my hands and for exfoliating my heels. It’s actually a bit drying making my skin feel slightly tight but it’s not an issue since I don’t use it too often and I generally moisturize my hands afterwards. Males having thicker dermis biologically may not run into the issue as much. The one negative star is for the green tinged puddle it leaves as the bar is drying. This stuff doesn’t need artificial coloring to work nor does it add a lot of visual appeal to the bar itself. It doesn’t detract from it working and it doesn’t stain bathroom tile. The pumice in it is very fine and almost soft though it is still very effective.

Old Fashioned and Beloved Pumice Soap
Grew up on Lava; I love to mow my lawn either bare feet or thongs... naturally grass stains will be all over the soles and sides of your feet. This Lava really cleans as well as soften all the dead skin, dirt, and grime away. Since I have oily skin; even though I am over 50+ years old.. Lava Soap still cleans the pores, removes excess oil, softens the skin of your face other oil - prone locations of your skin anywhere. This is also great for Teens and those undergoing Acne problems - use this once or twice a week will reduce greatly black-heads, pimples, and helps keep cysts away before they get a chance to develop!

Good for tough cleaning but rough on skin
I’m the soap does a pretty good job of getting dirt, oil, paint off my hands after a hard day of work. It isn’t the all in one miracle product but it sure does beat regular ha d soap if you are dealing with things like paint primer, grease, deeply engrained dirt all over you. The big negative is that it really really dries out your hands. Have to use a lot more hand lotion.

Grime Killer
This is the best soap for really dirty, grimy hands. Keep it at my basement wash tub. Use it after working in the yard and garden. It smells nice, but it cleans your hands perfectly. Last forever, too. It does everything it promises.

Not overly drying and cleans grease really well
This stuff is great for anybody that works with grease. Doesn't dry out my hands like other soaps do, and it gets them cleaner. I just wish I could find a case of it.I know I rely a lot on reviews and I appreciate the time taken to submit them, so please press the helpful button. Thanks! :]

Lava soap.
What in hell does thickness and sheerness mean? If you are a real man and not a wannabe, then you will have this in your shop, I mean, come on, it's a no brainer, like real men!

arrived on time, used it for cleaning windshield
Saw a how to video on youtube about cleaning car windshields using this product. Works really well. Would not dream of using this on my skin.

Great soap for dirty grease
Great soap for dirty grease, paint etc. removal from the hands, pity it is not readily available in the UK.

Only 4 stars because I keep 5 stars for something unexpectedly better than I thought it would be. This is just what I expected.
Had the stuff before. Its just brilliant for getting grime out of your skin.

nice surprise. The soap itself is brilliant
Arrived a week earlier than expected, nice surprise. The soap itself is brilliant, better than some of the Swarfega products I've used in the past.
