Q: Does this have varying line widths when writing with it? Trying to find a good & affordable entry level fountain pen to do lettering/calligraphy.

Yes. There is noticeable line width difference between horizontal & vertical lines. I compared this pen with my 1.1 mm Lamy stub nib and the Plumix has more line variation! My cursive handwriting looks great with this pen. Love it!

I would probably call it italic stub. The sharp edges on the nib is slightly rounded but it retains much of the crispness of an italic nib. Highly recommend this affordable pen.

Q: Which fountain pen converter would I need for the Plumix Refillable fountain pen?

You need a Pilot CON-40 or CON-50 converter. However, if you have a pipette or syringe, you can simply refill used cartridges with whatever fountain pen ink you want. I do this all the time. A cartridge is pretty durable and goes a long time before the mouth of the cartridge fatigues and stops giving a good seal.

Sort of. IMHO Its more of a "Stub". The downstroke is wide, the horizontal stroke is thin. It's probably a great start for Calligraphy but it is relative fine compared to some pens (probably like 1.1mm vs 1.4 or 1.5mm)
