Peugeot 205 T16 (Rally Giants)

I am very pleased with this book and this format of books. Robson has written others, including one on the Lancia Stratos, which I also have. This isn't for the casual reader but the person who really enjoys rallying and reading about the great cars in this motor sport. This has just the right amount of text, ample photos that complement the text and is not so voluminous as to be a drag to read. Incidentally, I also use these books as reference books to build models of these same cars.

Fantastic book just as I remember the car

Expertly written along with Awesome all action pictures. Technical drawings and text impressive, this awe inspiring car and team were one of the best. The book does this justice.

Die Bücher aus dieser Reihe sind sehr inkonsistent in ihrer inhaltlichen Qualität.Gefällt Graham Robson ein Auto, kann er sehr informativ darüber schreiben (wie beim Lancia Stratos oder Mini Cooper), gefällt es ihm nicht, sind die Bücher schwer verdaulich (wie beim Fiat 131 Abarth).Robson sagt im Vorwort selbst, daß er den hier behandelten Peugeot 205 T16 ganz toll findet, entsprechend hat er sich ordentlich Mühe gegeben.Wer sich nicht Mühe gegeben hat, ist der Verlag - das Buch ist offensichtlich nie lektoriert worden, auch das ist typisch für die Bände dieser Reihe. Orthographie, Grammatik und Interpunktion wurden willkürlich ausgewürfelt, Bildunterschriften stimmen nicht (typisch: auf einem Bild ist angeblich die Hinterachse des Peugeot zu sehen, abgebildet sind aber eine Radkappe und das Bremspedal eines alten Ford Escort) und immer so weiter.Echte Hintergrundinformation ist in dem Buch auch eher wenig zu finden, das ist sicher auch dem traditionell geheimniskrämerischen Umgang französischer Großunternehmen mit solchen Themen geschuldet.Frei verfügbare Informationen wie Ergebnislisten von Wettbewerben sind dagegen episch breit vertreten.So bleiben ein Haufen interessantger Fotos aus dem privaten Fundus des Projektmitarbeiters Des O'Dell.Die sind das Geld wert, der Rest des Buches nicht ganz so.
