Nintendo Switch - Neon Red/Neon Blue + Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

This was a christmas present for my seven-year-old and five-year-old boys.First, I should say that I believe games are perfectly good for the brain and better than sat passively watching TV, especially as most kids programs these days seem to be designed to shorten attention spans with their insane quick edits and copious nonsensical screaming. (I'm looking at you, Teen Titans!).We all play MarioKart on this as a family, hold tournaments and have a really fun time together, which is important. My son and I build incredible structures, learn about resource management and transactions in Minecraft and my wife and I do Ring Fit Adventure to stay fit during lockdown and when the weather is bad outside.You can set up different profiles for each family member and monitor who is playing what and for how long on the app. You can also set timers and alarms, which have come in very handy for avoiding arguments and tantrums.Now, a word of WARNING: games are good for their brains, but just like everything else, too much can be a bad thing. We thought we'd relax restrictions around game time as we're locked down, but at this age, without clear parameters, my kids were getting upset and moody when out of the blue I would say, "OK, you've been on that for two hours now, you have to finish." or "you've played it too much today, no more."It's really important that you set clear boundaries at this age and that they have a balanced routine. Since we've reintroduced those parameters and they understand that they need to earn their time on it, by reading their homework first or doing chores around the house, everyone is very happy and can manage their time with the device well.OVERALL: It's a really versatile console and the one to get if you can't afford a PS4/5 or other more 'grown up' consoles for multiple family members or types of games.

Love this little console. It's great, really easy to use & get around the house with it. The battery last a long time and doesn't take much space when I travel. Super happy I got it!

Very nice the Nintendo, a bit expensive but useful for a child.The game Mario 8 deluxe is great!

We bought this as a joint present for our 5 and 7 year old. The older one loves it and as kept him occupied on long journeys, whilst the 5 year old prefers just to watch her older brother play.We love way the console is either portable (good battery life too) or can easily plug into tv via docking station which cones with package and wide range of family friendly games. The app to control kids usage a nice feature too

Great price before xmas, have been tracking and haven't seen it cheaper since (including Black Friday/Cyber Monday). Great family fun with the kids... although I'm worried wife is getting a little too competitive! Lol.

The switch has been a fantastic purchase and has allowed us to play games with children and grandchildren around the world in these strange times. Graphics so much better than the WiiU but still plenty of family friendly games (as well as options for the older players). Great fun and wouldn’t be without it.
