You're Toast
We have had a four slice toaster in the past and won't go back. Feeding the family is so much easier when you can hand a slice out each. After an unfortunate gas hob incident that toaster is a little melted now, so getting the 'Russell Hobbs 23548 Emma Bridgewater Toaster' is a boon. In every way it should be an upgrade. In terms of looks and functionality it is brilliant, yet it has one design flaw that drops it down a star and will make it unusable for some.The positives. It is a chunky, but very nice looking toaster. Its cream and silver finish is neutral enough to fit into most kitchens. The words are a nice touch, but not something that is needed. What is good is the actual functional toaster elements. This is a 4 slicer, but really a duo of 2 slicers. You can work the left hand side independently from the right side. This is great for catering for differing numbers of people - just you and one kid up, or the whole family?The '23548' toasts quickly and evenly. There are also function buttons that are set perfectly - the from frozen and reheat button. I use the reheat button often to blast a piece of toast that has gone cold due to sitting around too long. This has been the best toaster that I have used, but there is a flaw.The power cable is very short and, not only that, is attached the front of the toaster. This makes little sense design wise and must be due to the electric elements all being housed at the front. For the punter this means that you have a wire that trails from the plug to the front. It also means that there is little wiggle room for bringing the toaster towards you. I do not like to toast under the kitchen units and normally drag the toaster out a little so that no burning will stain the underneath of the above units. This is just about doable with the '23548', but at full stretch. This issue would have been easily overcome by a foot more flex or attaching it to the back.If you are someone who rests their toaster against the wall near a plug socket, I highly recommend this toaster. If, however, your requirements are not like this you are in for some frustration or rearranging of your unit tops.
