Commonly known as jade plant, friendship tree, lucky plant or Money Plant, Crassula is a succulent plant with small pink or white flowers. It is native to South Africa, and is common as a houseplant worldwide. Jades are evergreen plants with thick branches and smooth, rounded, fleshy leaves that grow in opposing pairs along the branches. Leaves are a rich jade green; some varieties may develop a red tinge on the edges of leaves when exposed to high levels of sunlight. New stem growth is the same color and texture as the leaves, but becomes brown and woody with age. Under the right conditions, they may produce small white or pink star like flowers in early spring. The jade plant lends itself easily to the bonsai form and is popular as an indoor bonsai. Care: As succulents, they require a normal watering when the soil is dry in the summer, and very little watering in the winter. They will grow in full sun to light shade. However, they do not tolerate extreme heat or overexposure to direct sun very well, showing damage ranging from scorched leaves to loss of foliage and rotting stems. Most of the common species will tolerate a limited degree of frost but overexposure to cold weather will kill them.

arrived in excellent condition, healthy & well packaged
This arrived today in excellent condition. It has already been shaped to grow as a mini bonsai tree, which I was not expecting (even though the bottom picture shown on the site IS of a jade plant bonsai tree--I thought that was more of a "this is what could be done with the plant eventually" sort of photo). I'm excited that it is the beginnings of a bonsai instead of the tiny plant start I expected: it's for my husband to keep on his windowsill at work, and he really likes this. It was very well packaged--encased in bubble wrap in a box filled with packing peanuts. Nothing had broken off of the plant--not a single leaf--and a minimal amount of the growing medium had spilled out, thanks to careful masking tape placement over the pot opening. I knew to expect it today thanks to the shipping notification, so it was in the box on the front porch for only a few hours at most. Several plants were packaged in the same box, and all arrived in super condition. I will not hesitate to order more plants from Hirt's!

NICE PLANT, BUT I FIRST RECEIVED THE WRONG PLANT, THEN A DAMAGED ONE DUE TO TIGHT PACKING!
I WAS HAPPY TO FIND THIS PLANT AVAILABLE AFTER LOOKING FOR IT FOR A LONG TIME ; IT ISAVAILABLE ONLY ONE OR TWO TIMES A YEAR. I ORDERED AND RECEIVED A JADE BONSAI STARTER PLANT INSTEAD.; I CONTACTED HIRT'S VIA AMAZON'S RETURN/REPLACE BUTTON, AND THEY SENT A NICE CORRECT PLANt BUT, IT WAS BENT OVER FROM BEING PACKED TOO TIGHTLY; I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN AND WAS GIVEN A REFUND RATHER THAN ANOTHER PLANT PACKED MORE CAREFULLY. NOW I WILL HAVE A NICE PLANT ONCE I GET IT TO STRAIGHTEN ITSELF UP BY REACHING FOR THE LIGFHTI MUST CONCLUDE THAT HIRT'S HAS SOME NICE PLANTS, BUT THEIR PACKING DEPARTMENT ISN'T ALWAYS ACCURATE OR CAREFULENOUGH .BUT, THEY DO TRY TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT IF THERE S AN ERROR.!

hirts garden mini jade leaf plant - not as pictured
Buyer beware....A plant that matches the representation of the product pictured would be worth the price. The actual item I received looks nothing like the photo. It is one stalk with 8 leaves. I have ordered several plants from this seller that were either smaller than expected or damaged during shipping. I do really like this type of plant, but will have to try other options.

This plant arrived in a small box with the plant taped to the side of the box. No padding. Lots of empty space, but the plant was fine. It's not as pictured. Two stems with big leaves. it's about 5 inches tall. I'm happy with it, just thought it could be packaged better.

Magnifying glass not included....
Crazy tiny. Like super duper tiny. Shipping package was great, and clever, frankly. Just really, REALLY small. The picture is deceptive. As I am an unofficial plant hospice worker, I'm hoping to nurture this into something magnificent. And by magnificent, I mean alive.

Soooooooo Cute!!
Even though it is stated in the description that you will receive this plant in a 3" pot, mine came ina 2" throwaway cardboard container and it was so little I fell in love with it because it was so cute. I immediately repotted it and it is already taller in a matter of 2 weeks. I love it and I am so glad I took the chance and purchased it, even though it is not as stated in description!!!!

Smaller than expected
Packaged well, I was actually surprised how well this shipped and 6 months later it's still alive. BUT they show a full luscious plant there and mine is just one little branch with probably 8 leaves on it.

I love it. Arrive in healthy condition in 3" pot. I move to 6" pot and growing and even came out two branches in short time.
