Swing Slow, Sloth (2020 Edition): Baby's First Soft Book (Wee Gallery Cloth Books)

This should have been so much cuter than it is. The only interactive for baby are the crinkly sloth hands. How about a squeaker in the toucan's beak, or shiny tongue sticking out from the chameleon's mouth, or shiny wings on the butterfly?The second issue I had was the colors, of this is for a baby the colors should have been so much brighter. Most good cloth books for infants are high contrast red and black so they can see them from a very early age.Even babies a little older are going to go for the brighter colors than this had. Why not make the sloth red and black? It's a baby book, engaging is better than accuracy at this point.While the different sloth poses were actually really cute, I'm not sure they'd even make sense to an infant as there is nothing inherently engaging about them.The animal rhyme's are really only there for a parent to read, but because this is an accordion type book, it's more useful to lay in front of a baby for tummy time to look at the pictures all in a row. It's not really the type to stuff into a bag as a grab and go item. Especially since there's no loop or plastic ring to hook it anywhere. Which again because it's an accordion style wouldn't really work anyway.I hate giving low reviews to baby books because I think cloth books are important for babies, but I honestly don't think this one is going to get you what you're looking for. Sorry.

I really wanted to love this baby book. Let me start with something positive, the sloth and animal illustrations are lovely. Now for the rest.- Since it’s cloth it won’t have an actual story (which I expected and is fine) but it would have been nice to have some more interactive elements (like crinkling, etc).- The ink seemed faded to me, for very young babies you want more contrast and deeper colors.- The accordion style close is unfortunate. You can’t just pick it up and throw it in the diaper bag without it unfolding. Wish it had a Velcro closure or something similar.- Missed opportunity: There is no hole or way to attach this to a stroller or car seat. Some way for parents to attach the book so it’s not constantly getting dropped would be nice.- The presentation box is unfortunate. It basically stuffs the book inside and you can only see the eyes of the sloth. Even a box where the crinkly ears could be accessible would make it better. I am gifting it without the box.Overall, it’s cute but I’d pass.

This book/teething toy is adorable. The slow alliteration on each page makes for an adorable tiny story to read aloud to baby, while the soft pages make a colorful, safe teething surface when the baby decides that listening to a story is not as exciting as eating the story. Anyone who has raised children understands that babies are excited about eating books. This book makes a delightful surface for chewing, and there is also a tiny crunchy surprise, as one of the pages has two little ears sticking up that make an especially desirable target, and one that has a distinctive crackle when handled.The illustrations are simple; colorful basic pictures that are appropriate for very young babies and children just learning to explore the outside world.This book/toy would make an adorable gift for a new parent/baby, or a Christmas gift for the baby.{N.B. I checked a few of the other reviews and noted that there were some concerns about the safety of the materials. I found the website for the company, and they have a very serious focus on safe materials and eco-friendly practices. They use organic, lead-and-pthalate-free materials for their products, and use fair production practices. I hope this helps.}

Cute book for babies.- Soft, well made, and seems safe for babies. No idea what kind of ink or printing was used on the fabric if the baby puts the book in his or her mouth.- Regarding quality of the sewing: I noticed a tiny thread hanging at each point where the sewing ended. It could have been finished a touch better.- Nicely done illustrations that have a soft color palette with hits of brighter colors on the various animals.- VERY short story. It's more about the baby holding the book and enjoying the images.- The box says the sloths paws crinkle (plural). In reality only 1 paw crinkles.- I think the book could have contained a few more interactive elements like more crinkling, a mirror, or textures to add another level of tactility that many books like this offer.- Accordion style folding, so the book unfolds easily and doesn't latch shut in any way.Overall I love the illustration style and sloth theme. For these reasons it's a hit with my kid too.

My little one LOVES sloths. She is such a big fan that she has outfits, posters, and storybooks about sloths.She’s only 9 months old but recognizes them. We are very lucky that we live just a few miles from a wildlife park where they have three sloths in residence. Our little one will sit there and acts mesmerized by them.This book is perfect for her! It’s a soft, fabric book that folds out instead of having pages turn. It includes various poses on sloths on one side and the animals he goes to visit on the other side (toucan, butterfly, and a chameleon) Rey cute story in a soft, cloth book. It the best part is the arms of the sloth ext end beyond the book and have crinkly material. Just a perfect book!

I want to love this cloth baby book for babies! It’s simple, but it could be more. It has crinkle ears for the sloth, but that’s it as far as engaging. Some soft tabs or anything else for the baby to touch would be a plus. Obviously, this is for infants, so it’s simple. I like the illustrations and colors - especially of the toucan!It is a really cute book and it’s nice to see the baby looking at it. As she gets older,we will be using it during tummy time. If the book were priced lower than the current$14.95, I would go with 4 stars. For the price, it could be so much more.
