Must buy
Good blade for the price.I already have a favorite pocket knife. But this will be used as my tool box knife. I may end up buying one more because I'm going to feel bad using it for work.

Does what it does.
Great marking knife (right handed; tried lefty, didn't work as well, but I may just be clumsy...)Comfortwise, it's not ergonomic, but really doesn't matter unless you're marking a billion things...Nice simple design. Good value for the cost.

Sharpest marking knife I've used
This marking knife has a permanent spot in my work apron.Snug fit in the sheath, but it doesn't take long to get it to loosen up to a very usable fit.I keep it in a snug chest pocket in my apron and I can draw it smoothly one handed.A quick strop at the beginning of my work and it stays razor sharp all day.Pine, Oak, Mahogany, Ash, clean marks and no splintering.

Disappointingly soft blade metal; Update: Great carving knife for the price
Update:I'm moving this up to 5 stars from 3. I abandoned the idea of using this as a marking knife but recently took up spoon/bowl carving and gave it another try for that and I've been very pleasantly surprised with its performance. Maybe the rollover issues I had were limited to the very tip or maybe my technique was bad or something but I haven't had any such issues while carving; cutting primarily in the middle of the edge.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this for carving purposes.Original review: The price is great and single bevel blades are unfortunately uncommon, but after spending over an hour sharpening this to a razors edge I was really surprised how quickly the edge rolled over from marking lines in soft pine. I'll try a steeper bevel, but I don't have high hopes for this tool's usefulness.

Just Awesome!!!
I'm heavily into woodcarving, and saw this knife, as another style of woodcarving knife, and wanted to try it out. This knife not only looks very simple, but it comes razor sharp, and I really like that it has the blade sheath. Unlike traditional woodcarving knives, which are thinner, and only really good enough for basswood, or cotton wood, this blade, at 1.5 or 2mm thick, has been great for carving much harder woods. I've actually put away a lot of my traditional knives, and use this now, pretty much exclusively. It holds an edge very well, and strops sharp, just like my others. The steel is a very strong, and well crafted knife. I highly recommend this knife, for any woodcarver, that wants the same precision, but more options as of wood to carve on. So far, I can't foresee the blade breaking very easily, and it'll have to take many, many years of using it as much I currently do, to wear it out enough. If, or when it does, I hope I'll be able to get another! I may just order another, just to have another on hand.

Great traditional knife
Sharp as heck and nicely made.If you remember that this is a student grade traditional craft knife that is based on a design older than your family tree, you'll be more than happy.I put a couple coats of tried and true on it and the wood is smooth and silky with just a hint of beautiful grain.

Japan steel
Tried it on moravian star it did ok makes a good rough out tool comes shaving sharp and comfortable in hand I applied miniwax on the handle to preserve it for the price it's worth it I would recommend this kiridashi I gave it four stars because the wood did not have any type of preservative on it

Nice knife
Fun to carve with. Sharpens well and holds an edge just fine. Couple of coats of boiled linseed oil and it's nicely finished. Comes smoothly sanded, but without any moisture protection so I recommend that addition for more durability, but maybe not necessary.
