Cheap China Knock-Off, Don’t Buy If You Are Seriously Interested In This Subject
I don't review products I buy from Amazon. I am making an exception in this case because the reviews listed for this book are spot on. This book is not from the original publisher, and that's too bad because the price is right, but the product quality is just not up to snuff. As so many other reviews outline, reading this book is an exercise in futility, the printed characters are so poor and out of focus, even with my glasses on I feel like I'm watching a poor quality 3D movie. I cannot find the words really to express how poor the print quality is in this knock-off book. And that extends to all the maps shown in this book as well, the author would be appalled, I'm sure, to find out that someone is selling all his hard work he compiled in such poor quality manner. And as others have mentioned, there is no copy-right page in the book!Like the other reviews have already said, don't waste your $$$ on this cheap, out-of-focus, poor-quality knock-off of a book!

Jayhawk!!!
I believe this is the best account of the whole ground war that I have come across. The entire deployment was explained in a clear, unbiased, detailed view of the VII corps during Desert Shield/Storm. I have read "Warriors rage" and "The road to Safwan", both tell a part of the war from the "Tanker" point of view and are good books. Jayhawk, in my opinion, paints a much better picture and tells about the entire ground war and tells what orders were given to whom and how each unit complied. It was put out by the Department of the Army so there is a bit of "Army language" that would need to be researched if you are a civilian. I was impressed with how Stephen Alan Bourque told how the Iraqi army DID NOT just roll over and surrender (They DID fight), but were rolled over by a much smarter and superior army. This book has many pictures in each chapter and gives a bibliography after each chapter so it is pretty easy reading. GREAT BOOK! WORTH EVERY CENT!

A must read
This book is kind of unique since every chapter is basically its own research paper with references given at the end of every chapter. However, the story line flows well and you'll have no regrets reading it from cover to cover. I got this book after I had read "Warrior's Rage" so I jumped to the start of the war and read to the end. While I really liked "Warrior's Rage" this book gives a very different perspective of the same battles and you need both perspectives to really understand what was happening. I have since gone back and read the entire book from the start to finish.Naturally, there is a lot of military strategy and equipment discussed but I don't see how you could tell the story without the details of how they fought battles at that time.

Desert Storm
There used to be 4 or 5 great books about Desert Storm that I truely enjoyed, This makes it to the top of the list. Here is an author that has covered every square inch of the war. He takes the time to check and re-check all his information with the experince only a senior officer can . His wealth of knowlegde and detail is excellent. Why this is a history book for all to read it is also a text book fo rthe next generation of comabat leader!

Great book
I served with Task Force Iron two decades ago in this conflict. This might be the best book on the 1st Gulf War. It discusses the conflict in great detail. I have many books on the subject and this is one of the best two. The other one being Road to Safwan. If you want details on the 1st Gulf War. It does not get any better than this particular book.

Copy fraudulent!
No issues with the author or story, but the copy I was sent was a photocopy book from the original. It was the author who pointed this out to me when I took it to be signed. Not cool!

DO NOT BUY.
The book I received is an obvious (and poor) photocopy of the original. Near impossible to read the horrible copy print. No copyright page or publisher information.

A Great Read!
I have read several accounts of the Persian Gulf War-Operation Desert Shield/Storm, among them: “Warrior’s Rage” by Douglas MacGregor, “With It or In It” by Bacil Donovan Warren, “The Fires of Babylon” by Mike Guardia, “The Road to Safwan” by Stephen A. Borque and John W. Burdan, “XVIII Airborne Corps in Desert Storm” by Charles Lane Toomey, “The First Infantry Division and The US Army Transformed (Road to Victory in Desert Storm 1970-1991)” by Gregory Fontenot. I have just finished Stephen Bourque’s other account of this war, “Jayhawk, The VII Corps in the Persian Gulf War”. Most of these accounts were written by participants in this conflict and all have been fascinating reading.“Jayhawk” is extremely detailed in its telling; Mr. Bourque covers VII Corps involvement from the beginning to the end of the war, as well as a lot of information about the Corps itself and how and when it was called up to deploy. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone interested in this period in American military history!

Good book BUT hardly readable re-print!!!
Good book per se, very detailed and well-researched inside information, references after each chapter which is very good, lots of maps provided... Of course this book almost exclusively treats the VII corps aspect of the operation and does not give you an overall perspective of the ground war, let alone the whole operation but that's clearly mentioned in the description.BUT: definitely a re-print by Amazon - mine says: printed in Leipzig/Germany by Amazon. This wouldn't be a problem, BUT: the writing isn't very clear, it looks like a photocopy or badly made scan of the text!! This makes reading it quite uncomfortable, you really have to concentrate and you'll get a headache after some time... Now, I really wanted to read the book and I'm not going to send it back but in fact that's what I should have done... This kind of print quality reminds me of illegal copies / scans purchased on street markets in Asia...
